Over 200 participate in skating party

It was a very busy weekend at Hensall
United Church beginning with Maundy
Thursday Service. A quartet consisting of
Donna St. John, Debbie Wood, Bill Bailey
and Doug Mock performed the touching
"Alone Thou Goest Forth." Assisting Rev.
Douglas Wright with communion were
Mary Kinsman, Hazel Corbett, Steven Cor-
bett and Cecil Pepper. Ushers for the ser-
vice were Bill Fuss and Doug Kyle.
Easter began early with a Sunrise Service
at 7:30 a.m. Glen Hayter led the service with
his senior youth helpers; Angie Gould, Jodi
McGee, Jamie McGee, Mark Brock, Rob
Gackstetter, Jonathon Corbett and Derrick
Mcgee. A group consisting of Pam Gackstet-
ter, Donna St. John, Bill Bailey and Ron
Mock sang the lovely Anthem "Come Ye
Faithful". Reverend Doug Wright led the
large gathering in a closing prayer followed
by breakfast prepared by the worship com-
mittee and served to a large and hungry
crowd.
Later on Easter Sunday the regular Wor-
ship Service was held at Hensall United
Church. Jean Jacobi assisted Belva Fuss
with the music.
The Junior Choir sang the anthem "Let
'Heaven Rejoice." A butterfly was placed on
the top of the completed cross. Many thanks
to Larry and Evelyn Elder for making the
cross which has been used for the last seven
.Sundays. Rob Gackstetter sang a solo "The
Holy City." and Reverend Wright's sermon
was "When is an Ending not an Ending?"
Joanne Fields, a member of the official
board greeted worshippers as they arrived.
Next Sunday, April 11, is Baptism Sunday.
The Thursday afternoon UCW group will
meet this Thursday at 2:30. The annual Beef
Barbecue will be April 14.
Easter flowers in the Church were two
Easter Lilies in memory from the Fee
Estate, a lovely hydrangea plant from the
Horticultural Society and two baskets of
flowers f om the funeral of Keith MacLean
�f Seaforh.
Ushers for the Easter Worship Service
were Meiwyn Fields, Tom Bailey, Doug
Cook and Harold Parsons.
PEOPLE
Jack anRaye McKnight of Ottawa
visited with Glen and Pearl McKnight of
Northcrest fpr the Easter Weekend. Visitors
with the MCKnights on Sunday were Don
and Mary Gravett of Hanover and sons John
of Guelph and Mark from Toronto.
Ida Dickert visited last week with grand-
daughter Robyn McLellan of Toronto.
Margaret Mole spent Friday with Nancy
and Jack Phillips and family who have mov-
ed back to Hensall. Margaret's son Bob and
Betty Mole and family of Dungannon also
attended the family gathering.
Doug and Karen Shirray and Bryan were
in Hensall on Sunday to spend some time
with their mother, Mabel Shirray of Nor-
thcrest. Carl and Hilda Payne were in Lon-
don over the weekend with their son Wayne
and Iris. While there they celebrated the
fifth birthday of granddaughter Amberly.
Blanche Chapman of London, Mrs. and
Mrs. Leslie Adams of Exeter and Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Morenz of Dashwood visited on
Easter weekend with their sister Hazel
Corbett.
YOUTH PARTY
South Huron Youth for Christ held their
skating party at the Hensall Arena in
March. Over 200 participated in this annual
event. Youth, children and adults all en-
joyed skating on the ice surface to a great
selection of music MCed by Jeff Westlake.
An excellent film was shown, followed by
refreshments.
A large crowd of approximately 200 peo-
ple gathered at Brucefield School on Aprill
as Sharon Parker of Centralia and Ray Flet-
cher of London performed beautifully on the
piano and keyboard. After several choruses
were sung, the Clinton, Exeter, Goderich
and Zurich teams Quizzed from H Thessalo-
nians with Exeter finishing on top. Ray and
Arlene Fletcher shared in testimony and
long. Both members of the Christian Biker's
Association told the large and attentive
group about what the Lord has done in their
lives.
The South Huron Youth For Christ Quiz
Team won at the Winter Retreat at Circle
"C" Ranch in Delewan, New York and will
be returning there on Friends and Family
Day, July 23 when they will be in contention
for the Trophy against teams from all over
the U.S.A.
Don't miss the last regular Rally of the
season on May 7 when the regular Quiz
teams will participate in the finals for the
YFC Trophy.
EUCHRE PARTIES
The series of Euchre parties held by the
Three Links Senior Citizens was brought to
a successful conclusion on Tuesday evening,
March 29 with 10 tables in play.
Winners were: Ladies cards lone hands
Sheldon Wurm; men's cards lone hands,
Ross Richardson; ladies' high, Mrs. Shantz;
ladies' low, Nellie Riley: Men's high, Mary
Broadfoot and men's low Gwen McKellar.
Pearl Taylor had the Lucky Cup., Draw win-
ners were Beatric Richardson, Joyce
Willard, Pearl McKnight, Doreen Baird,
Pat Volland, Eileen Consitt, Gwen
McKellar. Happy Summer everyone. The
Euchre parties will resume in the Fall.
Hostesses were EveAn Flynn, Dorothy Brint-
nell and Carl and Hilda Payne.

Reverend Stojkovic of Zion Lutheran
Church, Dashwood led the worship service
Tuesday afternoon with his' wife Jill as
volunteer pianist. Father Mooney was also
in to say Mass for the Catholic residents.
Wednesday morning the Activity Room
was the scene of a great deal of action.
Donald Dearing of Exeter treated residents
to a visit from three baby lambs, chicks, a
pet Banty hen and two Homer pigeons. Mr.
Dearing explained about the three types of
.ambs one Dorset Horn, Oxford Down &
Leicester. But residents just called them
cute. Residents couldn't thank Mr. Dearing
enough for bringing this menagerie to them.
It certainly brought back many memories
as they stroked, petted and smelled these
animals.
Wednesday afternoon Iva Reid assisted as
several residents bowled at the Zurich Bowl-
ing Lanes.
Thursday residents had an enlightening
visit from some HensaU Public School
children. They had put together videos set to
appropriate music. The topics were London
England, by Cara Powell and Katie Sue
Kyle. Hawaii, by Stephen Thompson and
Teresa Haugh,Provincial Parks by Steve
Elliott, The ockies by Tom Scotchmer,'
Klondyke by Steve Brock and Shawn Cooper
and Canada by Vicki Bisback. These were
well done and interesting vignettes.
Thursday evening residents celebrated
their monthly birthday party. The Brass
Bunch entertained led by their music
teacher Charles Kalbfleisch. Residents ap-
preciated their wonderful performance and
also the visit afterward. Birthday greetings
to Isabel Sproat, Carl Lawatski, Elizabeth
Alexander and Grace Dinney.
Saturday evening Julia Knip and the
Christian Reformed Singers brought a
beautiful Easter Program in word and song.
Following the presentation residents shared
a visit with the singers over lunch. Thank
you to Matthew, David and Adam Gascho
who assisted with serving lunch.
Queensway coming events are April 9,
2:30 p.m. Sherry McCalls, step dancers pro-
gram and April 15 a trip to Garden Brothers
Circus.
Kippen 3 4-H club
members learn
about clouds

The first meeting of Kippen 3 9-H Club was
held March 22 at Brucefield United Church
at 7 p.m. The meeting started with the 4-H
pledge and members went over re-
quirements in to books.
Get acquainted games were played to
break the ice and learn everyone's name
and officers elected. The results were:
president, Sherri Mclaughlin; vice presi-
dent, Patricia Wynja; treasurer, Chris
Gemmell and press reporter and secretary,
floating.
Members closed this first meeting by
singing songs from the new 4-H song book
which was handed out. This club is called
"Encountering the Outdoors". Leaders are
Barb Moffatt and Pat Predhomme. Press
reporter for this meeting was Barb
Fotheringham.
PERSONALS
The sympathy of the community is ex-
tended to Grant and Helen MacLean on the
death of Grant's brother Keith Maclean on
Tuesday, March 29.
Mrs. Alex McGregor has returned to her
home after spending the winter months at
Maplewood Manor in Seaforth.
The school within our area - Huron
Centennial - has asked me to announce the
annual spring concert will be held on
Wednesday and Thursday April, 20 and 21
starting at 8 p.m. Theme - "It's a Small
World After All". Tickets are available at
the school or from students attending.
4-H NEWS
The first meeting of the Kippen 3 4-H Club
was held on March 22 at Brucefield United
Church at 7 p.m. The meeting started with
the 4-H pledge and members went over the
requirements in their books.
They then played some get -acquainted
games where you throw a ball and say the
person's name. Then they proceeded with
the meeting their books. The election of
