Students receiving special instruction for
language problems will, in the classroom,
work on vocabulary building; relationships
in words and sentences; and learning rules
and using them.
But there comes a point, Murray said,
usually after age nine when it becomes ap-
parent that • students with a deficit in
language will most likely have a deficit in
life.
It is at this point that affentinn le rnnnenrl
on learning life skills, she said.
" Most times these children are so
delayed in language they don't have the
skills to cope with social aspects of every-
day life and they must be taught," she said.
The life -skill language program teaches
students appropriate vocabularly for deal-
ing with banks, restaurants, transportation
lines, and supermarkets, Murray said.
"The objective is to have them be self-
sufficient in life," she summed up.

Soil Conservation
club organizes
dates for future

On Monday, March 21 prospective
members of the 9-H Soil Conservation Club
met to organize dates for future metings.
They also decided on a trip which consists of
going to the Conservation Farming '88 ex-
hibits and seminars in Woodstock. Leaders
are Dave McClure, Ian Scott and Ray Han-
na and the executive consists of: Melanie
Knox as President, Barbara Fotheringham
as vice Pres., Michelle Dillon as Secretary,
Donna Lynn Armstrong as Treasurer, and
Mark Walker as Press Reporter.
This club is made up with six meetings,
and the first meeting will be April 5 at 7:30
pm. The meeting will take place in Rm. 117
at Central Huron Secondary School. New
members and parents are invited to the
meeting on April 5.
Canadian Order of
Foresters serve up
great pancake dinner
The Canadian Order of Foresters ladies
and men lodges held a family afternoon on
Sunday, March 27.
Bowling was enjoyed by young and old at
the Seaforth Starlight lanes in Seaforth.
After bowling all went to the Kinburn Hall
where a pancake and syrup supper was
served to 50 people. Jim Thompson made
the pancake batter and the ladies looked
after the other chores.
Congratulations Jim on good pancakes
and to the others who helped make the fami-
ly afternoon such a success.
