Sensei Yamanaka presented Mr. Parker with the certificate, Mr. Parker doesn't practice Karate, but his family does, and he is now involved in mak- ing decisions for the 30,000 members of the federation. Box Office: 523-9300/9225 ONE SHOW ONLY McKillop 4-H club elects its officers The first meeting of the McKillop No. 1 9-H club was held on March 8 at the home of Mary Lou and Susan Stewart. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and officers were selected as follows: President -Tracy Bosman; Vice -President -Sherry Rumford; Secretary -Susan Stewart; Treasurer -Sherri Bennett; News Reporter -Pam Bennett. This club is called "Encounter the Out- doors". The objectives are learning to sur- vive in the wilderness away from the conve- niences of home, and to appreciate nature. The roll call "What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear outdoors?" was answered by nine members. Members discussed choosing a location for a fire and the various types of ways to build a fire. Everyone is asked to have the permission slips completed for the outing. The second meting of McKillop No. 1 4-H club was held at the home of Susan and Happy Citizens hold fun day The Seaforth "Happy Citizens" fun day was held on March 21 at the Legion Hall with four tables r euchre, three tables of bridge, one table oi.crockinole and four tables of cribbage in play. The winners in cribbage for seven games were: Ladies first - Amy Wiggins with a score of 1007, Ladies second - Jean Pinder with a score of 913, Men's high - Harvey Dolmage score of 1033 and Men's second "- Dorothy McCluskie playing as Charlie Far- quharson score 1016. Special prize - Man dressed in brown - Peter Malcolm. Apple prizes to Margaret Sharp and Evert Felkar. The next fun day will be held April 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge followed by the selection of the club name. Members decided upon Sherri Bennett's suggestion of "The Nature Nuts". The junior leader, Mary Lou Stewart took everyone outside for games. The meeting continued indoir's where members discussed how tp forecast weather, selection of a campsite, different types of shelter, stoves vs. open fires and different areas of a campsite. After the meeting closed, refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be April 5 at the home of Pam and Sherri Bennett. Balloon found by Blyth area girl Another balloon carrying a message from the United States has been found in the area. Michelle Beuermann, 13 -year-old daughter of Dennis Beuermann of RR 1 Blyth, found a balloon Wednesday, March 23 - the same day it was sent by Ken Jones of Washington Elementary School in Coloma, Michigan. The only message the balloon carried was, "Please tell your local newspaper you heard from me."
