The girls played well and worked very hard but didn't make it out of the primary round. The. first game was against London, Fri- day. Seaforth had the majority of the play but couldn't come up with the winning goal as they skated to a four all tie. In the second game Friday they met Chatham. This game started off well but the girls tired in the second half and Chatham ran away with a 11-3 victory. Saturday morning they met London again and this too was an exciting game which could have went either way. But, London scored the winner late in the game and won it 2-1. The fourth; and what proved to be the last game, was played Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Midgets against Chatham. Again the girls held their own until the second half and Chatham skated away with a 10-0 score. Chatham ended up winning the gold for this division. lead in YBC bowling SEASONAL. Novice win WOAA grand championship On Friday, March 24 the Seaforth Novice Team played host to Teeswater in the se- cond game of a best of three series to decide the WOAA Novice Grand Championship. Seaforth led the series one game to zero. This one was to be decided early. Seaforth got off to a great start, clicking for three quick goals in the first period. Seaforth got things going again in the second period with a quick goal before Teeswater finally managed to squeak one by the Seaforth net - minder. Seaforth then poured it on scoring six more unanswered goals while Teeswater managed only two. The final score ws 10-3. Goalscorers for Seaforth were: Chris Marion (3), Shaun Anstett (3), Scotty Van Dooren (2), Mark Van Dooren (1), and Jason Smith (1). Assists went to Chris Marton (3), Shaun Anstett (1), Scott Van Dooren (2), Robbie Craig (2), Brandon Nash (3), Charles Robertson (1) and Jared Munroe (1). • from page 12 The midget's coach Mike Kelly said his team came out flat in the early going, which resulted in their falling behind 3-0. Trevor Fortune came out of the net after the third goal, and was replaced by Bill Tremeer. Seaforth got things back together before it was too )ate, and with only nine seconds left in the game Mike Schoanderwoerd scored a tying goal to force an overtime period. The overtime period was even more hard hitting and intense than the rest of the series, but in the end Seaforth got one goal and Lambeth got two to win the game 6-5. Midget coaches Mike Kelly and Don Williamson said the team gave it all they had, but Lambeth just had a little more depth in their team. Mr. Kelly said Seaforth Tweens has about nine players who make up the nucleus of the team, whereas Lambeth had about 12. I'm proud of them. They came back against Palmerston when they were behind by two games, and they went a long way," commented Mr. Williamson. "They all showed a lot of ability and inten- sity," added Mr. Kelly. And he said his team never gave up, as each of the last three games against Lambeth went into overtime. Both of the coaches agree they have "easi- ly the two best goaltenders in the league." And both of the coaches are also glad they coached this team. They say there were some discipline problems early in the season, but they were quickly worked out and the club's record shows it. They lost the PS•rn 1 r. - ,• first two games of theseason, tied the third, and went undefeated up untilthe playoffs. The midgets won the Western Ontario Athletic Association championships and came witl3irt a game of the All Ontario playoffs. March 28 to April 10, 1988 Johnson's 350 ml.
