Wednesday marked the fourth game of the All Ontario semi-finals between the Seaforth Atom Is and the Lambeth Atoms, and Seaforth emerged the winner. The Seaforth Atom Is had the distinct ad- vantage of leading the series five points to one going into Wednesday's game, so all they needed was a tie to send them spirall- ing into the All -Ontario finals. Led by coach John Watt, this team has had is season likely never to be matched in this division. Champions of several tour- naments including Harriston, Seaforth Op- timist, and Wingham Silver Stick, and finalists at the Sarnia Silver Stick, this team carries an impressive record of 51 wins, three ties and four losses (three of these in exhibition play against teams of "B" or "AA" calibre.) And on Wednesday night the Atom Is came out on top again, despite a tough fight from Lambeth. Seaforth's Steve Mclnally put pressure on Lambeth early in the first period of the game, hustling to get the puck in Lambeth's end. Jason Henderson got Seaforth's first goal, taking a beautiful pass from Boyd Devereaux and Mike Devereaux, and flipp- ing it over the pads of the Lambeth goaltender. Lambeth however, came back with great determination, tied up Seaforth's defense and pumped in two goals to take the lead. However, Seaforth didn't let the situation stay in Lambeth's favor for long. Mike Watt picked up the puck behind his own net, car- ried it into Lambeth's end and got a pass off to Mike Weber, who flipped it from the side of the net to Mike Devereaux, who in turn scored. The game was tied at two. Lambeth came right back to take the lead Bennewies duo The Bennewies duo of Marvelous Murray and Dangerous Daniel cleaned up on the men's weekly highs. Marvelous Murray regained his singles crown with a whopping 323 and Dangerous Daniel cornered the tri- ple crown with a barrier breaking 784. Matt Vock bowled his highest triple of the year a spectacular 451 and Mel Merriam joined the crowd bowling his highest single of the season a sizzling 250. These people are very good! Deb Barry continued her deadly game, scattering the poor pins hither and yon about the alleys and in doing so she succeed in capturing both women's weekly highs bowling a devastating 244 single and a close to barrier breaking 591 triple. Besides tak- ing both capricious women's crowns she also put a few more baubles in her ever oq All Ontario finals Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada 8 LIFE MORTGAGE INSURANCE PLANS DEFERRED ANNUITIES, INCOME TAX DEDUCTIBLE FLEXIBLE NO LOAD R.R,S.P, NON-SMOKERS RATES AVAILABLE Rep. At that point Seaforth started putting on the pressure, and the esuit was Lambeth took some costly enalties. Wayne Schoonderwoerd took advantage of the situation, took a pass om Mike Watt and then scored Seaforth' third goal. Mike Devereaux scored the f urth goal from Mike Weber and Joe Marra The fifth goal was scored by Mike Weber while Seaforth's Dean Finnigan was in the penalty box. It was set up by Mike Devereaux and Mike Watt. Staying out of the penalty box helped Lambeth score their fourth goal, on a pass behind the net to a man open in the slot. A fifth goal was scored off a deflection. Late in the second period Mike Devereaux flew in on the Lambeth net, and scored the goal that would put Seaforth ahead - this cleans up men's growing bowling shoe fund. If this alarming trend continues somebody we know may have to moonlight. Tonight was also the night for the female bipeds of the bowling species to go wild on the alleys. Janice Leonhart bowled her highest triple of the season, a towering 557 and Kathy (our other Rookie) Wright followed suit with a season high 430 triple. On the other side of the room Carol (adjectives are my life) Bennewies almost, practically, just about managed to smear Erich (the Big E) Matzold in a close, hard fought third game but a super corn - back by the Big E and the Inevitable tenth frame choke by C.B. took success out of her grasp. Foiled again and by a miniscule 13 unlucky pins. The standings this week made another in- credible flip-flop and we are right back into Water Well DRILLING W. D. The Lambeth offensive effort was hampered again by penalties, and so was its defensive effort. Seaforth racked up three more goals before the final buzzer sounded. Jason Henderson scored the first goal when he picked off the top of the net during Seaforth's first power play. He was assisted by Mike Devereux and Boyd Devereaux. Midway through the third period Justin Rodney passed up to Jeff Flanagan to Mike Hugill and Mike Moylan who was pulled down rushing in on Lambeth's net. Seaforth again took advantage of the power play that resulted when Mike Weber scored from Joe Murray and Mike Devereaux. Joe Murray scored Seaforth's ninth and final goal assisted by Mike Weber and Wayne Schoonderwoerd. The Atom Is now take on Port Hope for the All Ontario Atom title. A reminder for those of you who have perchance lost track of time, we have only two weeks - yes you are seeing right - two weeks remaining in the quest for gold (which is in reality gold covered plastic but it is the thought that counts - right). Because of the limited time left to us I would advise all bowlers who time been sairing those big games for an auspicious occasion the auspicious occasion has arrived.
