Marguerite Shill gets perfect game
"Birthday Greetings" on Friday went out
to Elmina Kemp and to Wilson Blanchard
.celebrating his eighty-seventh birthday,
also Edith Jessome.
In the afternoon bingo was held with lucky
winners being Margaret Smale, Wilma
. Brill, Madge Remes, Marguerite Shill, Ila
. Gardner, Wm. Connolly and Edith Salo and
:Denis Arney tied for a full card.
Thursday euchre with volunteers was held
in the afternoon with prizes donated by
Mary Finlayson and lunch by Mary Chap-
ple. Winners for the day were Ladies high -
Margaret Smale, Lone hands - Cassie
Nicholson, Men's high - Patrick Ryan, Lone
hands - Ed Dunn and Consolation - Edith
Salo and Bert Deichert.
Worship Service was held Wednesday
afternoon at 2 pm with the Rev. J. Van Slyke
in charge.
Tuesday afternoon residents enjoyed the
Maplewood
film "The Golden Seal" on the VCR. In the
morning students from Seaforth Public
School assisted with wheelchair bowling.
Just recently Marguerite Shill had bowled a
perfect game with a strike in every frame.
Last Monday evening the residents'
flower arranging program with Stephen
Hildebrand was cancelled due to a number
of residents suffering from colds and flu.
Welcome back to Keith Herman from the
hospital but presently confined there are
James Nolan, Harold Walsh and BM Scott.
PERSONALS
Dorothy Unfac of Mitchell visited her
mother Alice Boyes last Tuesday, also Ber-
nice and Don Gray:
Visiting with Marjorie Ryan during the
week were Annie Reid and Edith Wey on
Thursday, also husband Laurence Ryan and
Anne and Jerry Ryan on Saturday. On Sun-
day her son Nelson visited also Jack Ryan
browses through fashions
Residents of Maplewood Manor enjoyed
the usual activities of the week and are
looking forward to the Easter Open House
on Sunday.
Tuesday morning the Grade 11 students
from the high school paid another visit to
Maplewood. Residents enjoyed a friendly
game of euchre, crockinole and bingo with
them as well as visiting together.
Wednesday morning a good number of
residents assembled in the sitting room to
listen as Rev. Barber conducted the
church service. Winona McDougall ac-
companied on the piano. In the afternoon,
representatives of Hewitt Fashions
brought quite 9 ` display of fashionable
clothing for everyone to browse through.
Many took advantage of this visit to get
outfitted for spring. Also that afternoon
nurses from the Health Unit came to
Maplewood for footcare, which everyone is
very grateful for.
It was music to everyone's ears as
Marion Rose came and played many
popular tunes on the piano. Grace Titford
and Ed Andrews joined in when they sang
a few of the favorite hymns. Everyone had
an enjoyable time. Later Thursday after-
noon the three students from St. Michael's
High School, Stratford, Craig Murray,
Brian Cook and lain Mailloux, once again
paid a visit to Maplewood and gave
assistance wherever needed.
Thursday evening Gordon Wright visited
and brought an audio-visual film called
'Scottish Borders'. Residents found this
very interesting and informative and we
thank him for sharing this wi everyone.
Friday afternoon, everyone was eager to
try their luck at bingo. Volunteer, Ruth
Bock, came to call the numbers. The win-
ners were Anna Sherrin, Ise Stanley, Ethel
Coleman and Grace Titford. They all
received Wintario tickets as their prize.
Friday evening the residents of
Maplewood Manor were entertained by
Dr. Glen Oliver on the violin with Winona
McDougall accompanying him. Dr. Oliver
is from Huntsville, Texas and was here
visiting his father, Les Oliver who is a resi-
dent of Maplewood.
Happy Birthday wishes go to Mabel
Crouch and Edgar Allan who both
celebrated their birthday on Saturday,
March 26.
We would like to welcome back Anne
Henderson from Seaforth hospital.
This week, residents and staff welcome
Grace Scott to Maplewood Manor.
Happy Easter to everyone from the resi-
dent and staff of Maplewood Manor.
Lawnbowling club hosts evening
The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club held an
enjoyable evening of Euchre and Bridge in
the Orange Hall March 22. There were eight
tables of Euchre and three tables of Bridge
in play.
Ladies high score of euchre was won by
Mary Finlayson. Consolation went to Jean'
Keys and Lone Hands to Dorothy
McCluskey.
Men's high score was won by Gordon Mur-
ray. Consolation went to Lloyd Pipe, and
Lone hands to Mary Chapple (playing as a
man). sr,
Ladles high score of Bridge was won by
and family and Audrey McLlwain and Mrs.
Hackwell.
Mamie Ross accompanied by Helen Kirby
enjoyed an; outing to Blyth on Thursday and
visited with Mamie's sister and her husband
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sommerville.
Edith Jessome was out for the day on Sun-
day to Les and Karen Jessome and family
and celebrated her birthday while there.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chesney visited the tat-
ter's sister Alice Boyes, also Frank and
Margaret Swale.
Marjorie Maloney visited husband Harold
on Sunday.
Gladys Ruston spent Sunday at her home
in Stratford with her family.
Ross and Lillian Nicholson visited with
Cassie Nicholson on Sunday. Also visiting
Cassie was her great granddaughter
Catherine Nicholson from Fort McMurray
Alberta.
Robert Dunne visited Lennie Bloomfield.
Jack and Monica Ryan visited with Mar-
jorie Ryan.
Brenda Jessome visited her grandmother
Edith Jessome last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Syd Scroggs visited his
mother Madge Reines.
Glen Haney of Egmondville visited Verde
Cameron and Alice Boyes and also these two
ladies received Easter lilies from the
church. They have a wonderful aroma as
the bloom.
Helen Consitt visited her mother Alice
Boyes.
Mary K. Ryan was out for the day on
Saturday with Mary M. Maloney and
George and Teresa Simpson. Also on Sun-
day Geraldine Wilson and Anne visited her.
The last amaryllis, a white one will be out
in full bloom this week. It is Mary K. Ryan's
and fittingly is in bloom for Easter. All the
other bulbs have bloomed, stalks have been
cut off and are now being fed prior to storing
for the summer and hopefully residents will
have success in planting them again next
year.
We are sorry to report the passing of
Beatrice Regier at Seaforth Manor on
Wednesday. She will be greatly missed by
all who knew her, and during her stay at the
Manor had made new friends and renewed
old acquaintances. Beatrice was a 'alued
volunteer some years ago and was always
willing to assist whenever possible. Our
thoughts are with members of her family at
this time.

Phillips. High man was Dave Cornish and
Consolation went to Ken Linglebach.
President Mary Finlayson welcomed
everyone present and on behalf of the Club
wished a speedy recovery to Stanley and
Jessie Hillen who are in Seaforth Communi-
ty Hospital and to Sandy Pepper who is in
London Hospital.
Next Social evening will be April 26 in the
Orange Hall. Hostesses are to be Edith
McMillan, Mary Riley, Jean Keys, Effie
Stevenson and Alice Reid.

Anthony Joseph. Born on March 9, 1988, he
weighed 7 lbs., 9ozs. Proud parents are -Ran-

child, a son, William Donald, weighing 7
lbs., 11 ozs. at 2:15 a.m., Friday, March 25,
1988 in Scarborough General Hospital.
William is the fourth grandchild for Dr. and
Mrs. Donald Penney and third grandchild
for Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Menheere.

upon returning to work on March 20, 1988
an employee at the Seaforth Texaco Service
Station found the weekend receipts missing.
Police believe the person or persons respon-
sible for this theft knew exactly where the
money was kept. Over $1,100 in cash was
stolen, mostly in $10s, $20s and $5.
