She was among a number of young people who came to the manor to enter- tain the residents with dancing and piano playing. Corbett photo. Maplewood residents enjoy party The residents of Maplewood Manor en- joyed a number of activities this week with the highlight being the St. Patrick's Day party. Monday afternoon, residents as well as many seniors from the community enjoyed a very interesting film shown by represen- tatives from the Bauer Travel Agency. After Mr. Bauer spoke of many different tourist attractions, everyone was treated to coffee and donuts. In the evening, residents enjoyed another visit from Iain Mailloux, Brian Cook and Craig Murray. Tuesday afternoon, residents got together for euchre and bridge. The door prize, a shamrock plant, was won by Austin Matheson. Wednesday morning, Rev. Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa came to Maplewood for the church service. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Nott and Mrs. Durst with Mina Scott at the piano. Residents always look forward to these weekly visits. In the afternoon, residents gathered in the dining room for their mon- thly meeting where they discussed business matters. On Thursday, the dining room was decorated with shamrock balloons and green serviettes for the St. Patrick's Day celebration. Residents were in the Irish mood as everyone tried to find something green to wear. In the afternoon, residents and staff enjoyed' a delightful Irish program when piano students and dancers came to perform. The program began with Barbara Forrest step -dancing to a clog, jig and reel. She was followed by Dana Dalton, Karen Dillon, Kathy Southgate, Mark McCowan and Heather McMillan who all played a piano solo. Everyone enjoyed the highland dancing performed by Carly Pryce. There was lots of action as Brian Dillon displayed his Karate skills. Everyone's toes were tap- ping as they listened to Fred Harburn and Ivan Norris play some favorite old-tyme tunes on the fiddle and guitar. The party ended with refreshments being served to everyone. Thanks to those who provided the entertainment for the party. It was certain- ly enjoyed by all. Friday morning, Gail Hills and her daughter, Nikki, came to Maplewood to help residents with recipes for the cookbook. In the afternoon, Ruth Bock made her weekly visit to call bingo. Friday morning Bingo was held with bingos won by Denis Arney, Margaret Smale, Wilma Brill (2), Cassie Nicholson, Ila Gardner, Doris Smith, Elmer Bakcsy and Edith Salo. Residents were saddened to learn of the passing of Led O'Sullivan at Seaforth Com-' munity Hospital on Saturday. Funeral Ser- vices were for Leo at St. Columban Catholic Church on Monday morning. Attending from Seaforth Manor were Patrick Ryan, Joanne Ryan D.I.C. and Ruth Hildebrand Administrator. PERSONALS Birthday Greetings to Norma Jeffrey who celebrated her birthday on Saturday, March 19. She received many beautiful bouquets of ' flowers from friends and visiting with her during the week were Thelma Dale, Mona Crozier, and Gordon and Christy Nobel of London. Mary Nolan visited husband Jim on Tuesday. Audrey Mcllwain and her mother Mrs. Hackwell visited with Marjorie Ryan on Monday afternoon. Visiting with Beatrice Regier last Tues- day were Margaret Lane, Mary Ryan, Mrs. McQuaid and Beulah McKay. Alvin Regier also visited his mother. Visiting with Marjorie Ryan were her hus- band Lawrence also Bob, Barbara, Tim and Scott Ryan and a friend, Barb Laidlaw. Visiting with Mabel Handy last Thursday was Anona Crozier. Elmer Bakcsy was visited by his niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barabas of Guelph, and enjoyed an outing and supper with them. Visiting with Mary K. Ryan were Pat Ryan of Dublin and Geraldine Wilson. Visiting with Inez Spittal were daughter Nancy, Bonnie Johnston and great grandson Robert also Elsie Southgate and Diane Heynsberger. Doreen Kelly visited her mother Catherine Austin also Frank and Margaret Smale. Gerard and Jack Ryan visited on St. Patrick's Day with Mary K. Ryan. Florence Stewart and Isabel Scott visited with Bill Scott on Wednesday. Allan Nicholson visited with his mother Cassie Nicholson on his return from Florida. Alice Boyes was visited by husband Ed. Welcome to Edith Jessome who has become a resident at Seaforth Manor. She was visited by Les and Karen Jessome and family and on Silby Jessome. Last-I4oflday students of St. Michael's School in Stratford visited and assisted residents with wheelchair bowling. A staff inservice was held on Monday afternoon in the activity room with Jennifer Wardorp as guest speaker. The topic was "Restraints" and their use. A video was shown on the different types of restraints and demonstrated with members of staff.
