Maplewood residents enjoy party
The residents of Maplewood Manor en-
joyed a number of activities this week with
the highlight being the St. Patrick's Day
party.
Monday afternoon, residents as well as
many seniors from the community enjoyed
a very interesting film shown by represen-
tatives from the Bauer Travel Agency.
After Mr. Bauer spoke of many different
tourist attractions, everyone was treated to
coffee and donuts. In the evening, residents
enjoyed another visit from Iain Mailloux,
Brian Cook and Craig Murray.
Tuesday afternoon, residents got together
for euchre and bridge. The door prize, a
shamrock plant, was won by Austin
Matheson.
Wednesday morning, Rev. Cheryl Ann
Stadelbauer-Sampa came to Maplewood for
the church service. She was accompanied
by Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Nott and Mrs.
Durst with Mina Scott at the piano.
Residents always look forward to these
weekly visits. In the afternoon, residents
gathered in the dining room for their mon-
thly meeting where they discussed business
matters.
On Thursday, the dining room was
decorated with shamrock balloons and
green serviettes for the St. Patrick's Day
celebration. Residents were in the Irish
mood as everyone tried to find something
green to wear. In the afternoon, residents
and staff enjoyed' a delightful Irish program
when piano students and dancers came to
perform. The program began with Barbara
Forrest step -dancing to a clog, jig and reel.
She was followed by Dana Dalton, Karen
Dillon, Kathy Southgate, Mark McCowan
and Heather McMillan who all played a
piano solo. Everyone enjoyed the highland
dancing performed by Carly Pryce. There
was lots of action as Brian Dillon displayed
his Karate skills. Everyone's toes were tap-
ping as they listened to Fred Harburn and
Ivan Norris play some favorite old-tyme
tunes on the fiddle and guitar. The party
ended with refreshments being served to
everyone. Thanks to those who provided the
entertainment for the party. It was certain-
ly enjoyed by all.
Friday morning, Gail Hills and her
daughter, Nikki, came to Maplewood to help
residents with recipes for the cookbook. In
the afternoon, Ruth Bock made her weekly
visit to call bingo. The winners were Grace
Titford, Anna Sherrin and Ed Jahns who
received Wintario tickets.
