PUMPING UP SUPPLIES - Marian Doucette readies a number of pencil balloons for the balloon workshop she con- ducted Thursday at Seaforth's Carnegie Library. Irish songs present at Manor celebration "St. Patrick's Day" was observed at Seaforth Manor with Irish songs and the "Wearing of the Green". Brian Melady visited and played his' omacord and sang many Irish songs which the residents en- joyed very much. Jim Kelly also came dressed up in his Irish costume. Many of the residents also hada touch of green on, be it a tie, hat or corsage. "In our business the customer is King" On Friday afternoon residents again en- joyed the music of Marie Flynn and or- chestra. On violin were Wilson McCarb'iey and Warren Whitmore with Harold Black on electric guitar. They too wore something green and many good toe tapping tunes had residents and guests up dancing and singing along. Ila Gardner presented Marie with a shamrock plant in appreciation. Two members who usually are here to play with the group, Stan Hillen and Lorne Lawson are presently confined to hospital. On Tuesday last week ladies made cookies for St. Patrick's Day. In the afternoon SDHS residents viewed the film of "Old Yeller" and Harry and the Henderson's. Worship Service was conducted W es - day by Rev. Glen Sadiier of Bethel tele Church. In charge of the music were Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Lobb of Clinton who have been faithful attendants at services at Seaforth Manor for over 10 years. During that time they have contributed musically at each service, Mrs. Lobb playing the organ or piano and Mr. Lobb for his many solos or duets with Mrs. Lobb and his daughter. In- terested parties could contact the school directly at 527-0380. "The 'school is commencing a survey of recent dropouts this week," according to Mr. Moore. "Any young person without a highschool diploma, and having left school for at least a one month period would be con- sidered for enrolment," he says. The board's experience so far indicates there may be more candidates than originally anticipated. In the first program, presently operating at Central Huron Secon- dary School in Clinton, 33 dropouts have re- quested admission in just a two month period. Twelve were expected. It is ex- pected that most young persons applying will have, been out of school one or more years. An Admissions Committee to review ap- plications will include the school ad- ministration, Superintendent Carroll, the Student Services Coordinator Verna Kane, and Cooperative Education Coordinator Linda McKenzie. The program will be staff- ed according to student numbers created.
