BETTY McCALL 887-6677 A wide variety of woodwork was on display when Hank Ten Pas was guest speaker at the March meeting of the Walton Women's Institute. Canadian Industries convenor Mary Humphries introduced Mr. Ten Pas. Brussels new industry officially opened last Spring, is owned and operated as Grey Owl Enterprises, by Mr. Ten Pas and partner, Doug Bertrand of Elmira. The items consisted of boxes and crates for gift packaging, boxes for different items, lovely recipe boxes, colored baskets and trays and racks. He has contracts for these items and they are packaged for delivering in the thousands. Mr. Ten Pas contributed six of these items for draws. Thanks was ex- tended to him by Mary. Helen Craig chaired the meeting, assisted by Margaret Shortreed with cor- respondence and treasurer's report. There is still a small amount owing on the new storm windows installed last fall and the small window downstairs had a storm put on it recently. It was voted to have a .1 for the annual meeting next month, to be catered to by Joan Smith. Reports are to be handed into Marjory Humphries by April 10. The 'date for the celebration to commemorate the 50 years for the location of the hall has been changed to July 19, more discussions to be made at later meetings. Helen Craig will be the delegate to ttie Leadership Conference in Kingston in May. A letter was read from Seaforth Institute if anyone was interested in attending, their 85th anniversary celebration on Apri1.19. Program planning meeting is set for May 2. The nominating committee chosen to br- ing in the new slate of officers at the April meeting is: Helen Craig, Ruth Axtmann and Maxine Marks. Following Institute Grace refreshments were served by Elva Bolger and Betty McCall. SIX TABLES AT EUCHRE Winners at the euchre Thursday evening were: ladies high, Lols Hart, low, Leona McDonald. High man, Elmer Townsend, low, Jim Smith. Special prize, Ross Brighton. Hostesses were Ruth Axtmann, Helen Hoven and Marjory Humphries. The next euchre will be a dessert euchre ending the season. UNIT MEETS The Covenant was the main topic at the March meeting.of Walton II unit -with Rev. Bonnie ',amble' and Pearl McCallum in charge. They divided into groups with a Women's In question and answer period. The meeting was held Wednesday even- ing, March 9 at Brussels at the new home of Hugh and Melinda Johnston. Kathleen Williamson took over for the business. Leaders are Yvonne Knight and Nancy Vanass and the youth leader is Jean Lock- ing. The leaders went over the notes.
