Application forms bearing a postmark after March 16 cannot be accepted. "We are moving as quickly as possible to process applications and deliver needed cash into the hands of all eligible producers in advance of spring seeding," Mr. Wise said. Pierre Blais, Minister of State for Agriculture, also urged producers to com- plete and mail their application forms as soon as possible. "The federal government is doing its part and it is up to producers to do theirs to en- sure timely payments," Mr. Blais added. The first cheque for most producers in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and British Col- umbia will be mailed later this month. Cheques for Ontario producers with soy- bean acreage in 1987 will be issued by the end of April. This later cheque issue is necessary because of the significant shift in production away from winter wheat and corn to soybeans between 1986 and 1987. Due to this changing cropping pattern, first in- stallment SCGP payments for producers with soybean acreage could not be based on 1986 program records. Final payments to producers receiving a first cheque this spring are expected to be made in June. Producers who receive an automatic first payment are reminded that they must still submit an application form by March 16 in order to receive their final payment. • St. Columban couples attend • from page 12A Mary Moylan, grandmother, Catherine Janossy of Marathon, Sister Jean Moylan of Windsor, Don and Rita Moylan and family and Bill and Luella Murphy and family.
