Staffa UCW holds Easter egg Fount

MRS. JOHN TEMPLEMAN
345-2346
Hibbert United Church Women met in the
Family Life Centre for their March
meeting, which began with an Easter egg
hut. Bible verses were used as clues.
This prelude was followed by an Easter
devotional period, presented by Bernice
Norris and Margaret Daynard, with special
music by guest soloist Rita Christie.
Guest speaker for the day was Joan
Daynard, who with her family, has just
completed a return visit to their one-time
home in Kenya. Using slides and artifacts to
illustrate her talk, she was able to convey
some of the beauty, charm and friendliness
of this land.
Following the presentation members en-
joyed a lunch served by hostesses, Barbara
Pullman and Doris Jeffery, and took the op-
portunity to examine the display.
Margaret Kemp, who chaired the
business meeting commented on the recent
"Waste Management" evening and showed
and described the various classes of
household garbage.
It was decided to continue collecting
coupons and used cards: The social
assistance committee is asking for old
spools of thread and used dark pant
material. There is to be no more used
clothing received at this time.
Everyone was urged to write letters to
their members of parliament regarding
Sunday shopping.
A reading describing the work of Dr.
Helen Heuston in Nepal, brought the after-
noon to a close.
PEOPLE
Lillian Douglas, Roberta Templeman and

Two facts became dear; the costs of
establishing a new landfill site are tremen-
dous and sorting and recycling garbage pro-
longs the life of a current site. Those present
expressed their willingness to sort their own
garbage. The need to decrease the volume
of throwaways was also noted.
Discussion continued over a snack served
by the committee for the evening, Joast and
Sine Drost, Valerie Scott, Calvin and Gwen
Christie and Bert and Margaret Daynard.
