Men's bowling crown leaves Bennewies
You have probably heard rumours to the
effect Marvelous Murray Bennewies has at
long last lost one of his weekly high crowns.
Alas, it is sad, but true. He was ousted from
the men's weekly high single by that nimble
knave of the alleys nonesuch Nei' Beuerman
who bowled a crepitatling 275 in his pursuit
of the much sought after singles crown.
Marvelous Murr did however maintain his
unbroken streak of triple crowns with a
devastating 739 triple.
John Aubin had the old hardwood humm-
ing again tonight bowling a resounding 621
triple and Steve Oosterbosch joined him
bowling one of his highest triples this season
a 633. But that my friends is not all of the
news ... the infamous D -Team has resurfac-
ed after a brief hiatus with a new member
and a bevy of 700 barrier shattering scores.
Dangerous Dan Bennewies began the triple
free-for-all bowling a powerful 731, followed
by teammate Daring Doug Leonhart who
did his damage with an outstanding 723 and
Dynamic Doug Proctor who bowled a sizzl-
ing 701. Is history about to repeat itself ...
will the D -team continue this breakneck
pace and regain its former glory? Tune in
next week and find out.
women's crown to find its way to greener
pastures. Pins Knights put up a gallant fight
bowling a 223 single and a 557 triple in a last
ditch effort to retain the wandering crown.
However it was not to be. The capricious
crown has once again slipped from her
golden locks to land squarely on the heads of
Dazzling Deb Barry with an electrifying 575
triple and Marvelous the 2nd Michelle Ben-
newies for her magnificent 247 single (Just
what she needed to round.out her ... ah shall
we say trying night). It goes without saying
the rest of us are still waiting.
To say the point race is close would be a
humungus understatement ... the point
spread is positively miniscule (even Vagas
won't touch us). The Wingers - 8 (even the
best of us make mistakes Rookie), Swingers
- 13 (remember I warned you they were
sneaky), Team Three - 14• (going for the
• gold), Expos -14 (the others have arrived),
Misfits - 13 (who would have thunk it),
Highballers - 10 ("It isn't over till the fat
lady sings"). As you can see I was not mere-
ly flapping my adjectt es when I said the
race was tight and the way the teams have
been playing, it will get even closer as the
weeks speed by. The half way point is
behind us and we are into the final count-
down round where the slightest mistake - a
corner pin left standing, aHP in the tenth or
oh no a gu..gu..gutter ball, could mean a
gigantic drop in the standings battle.
Doesn't that send shivers of apprehension
bordering on pure terror ping ponging
through your collective bodies. Humor me
and say it does. "Thank-youl"
P.S. I was wounded in the extreme when a
certain bowler (who will remain uniden-
tified) thought I would refer to his power -
packed 125 single of last week. I would
never, never do something of that nature.
No I say, absolutely never ... not in a thou-
sand nay a million years would I do such a
thing. Therefore the afore mentioned bowler
may rest easy knowing that no one will find
out about his thundering 125 single in this
report. My pinkies are sealed!
LOOSE PUCK - For all the energy they exerted neither of these teams was able to get
control of the puck in this photograph. However, the Seaforth Atom Its had control of
the game when they downed Milverton 5-2 on Friday night. Mellwraith photo.

A SIX NATIONS BREAKAWAY is stopped by Seaforth midget Dwayne Price who drag-
ged the opposing player down, and Trevor Fortune who pulled the puck in with his stick
and smothered it. Hard defensive play and steady goaltending played a big part in
Seaforth's victory over Six Nations last week, and the local club will need it again as
they take on Lambeth in the All Ontario Semi Finals. Corbett photo.
