The Seaforth Atom Is won their way into
the All Ontario semi finals as they beat Six
Nations three games straight in the quarter
finals.
The second game of the best of five series
was played Friday night in Seaforth.
Seaforth outplayed its opponents throughout
the first period and outscored them 4-0.
A power play gave Seaforth its first goal,
as a Seaforth point man took a shot from the
blue line. The Six Nations goaltender came
up with a save for the initial shot, but lost
track of the rebound and Joe Murray ham-
mered the loose puck in the net. Assisting on
the goal were Wayne Schoonderwoerd and
Mike Watt.
Mike Devereaux got the next marker for
Seaforth as he let go a shot from a bad angle
but managed to knock it in off the
goaltender's pad, with Boyd Devereaux get-
ting the assist. Joe Murray did his best to
score the third Seaforth goal, but his shot
from point blank range was saved. The re-
bound however, was picked up by Dean Fin-
nigan who made his shot count. Murray got
the assist on the goal.
The fourth Seaforth goal was put in the net
on a rare type of goal in minor hockey, a
deflection. Wayne Schoonderwoerd shot the
puck from inside the blueline and as the
goalie went down to make the save Boyd
Devereaux, who was standing alone in front
of the net, got a piece of the puck and tipped
it over the goalie's head and into the net.
Seaforth had a lot of good scoring chances
throughout the first two periods, and con-
trolled most of the play. The Siv N'fienS
team had only occasional offensive spurts
which resulted in few opportunities for them
to get back in the game.
In the third period the Seaforth club's
All Ontario quarter final
system started to break down, and Six Na-
tions picked up a loose puck in front of the
net and caught the Seaforth netminder
unaware to break the shutout. But Seaforth
was determined to beat Six Nations by that
four goal margin and Jason Henderson fed
the puck in front of the net to Joe Murray
who put away Seaforth's fifth goal and his
second of the night.
That's the way the score stayed, and
aeatorff won me game -1.
So Seaforth went back to Oshweken. on
Sunday night two games ahead of their Six
Nations rivals. On home ice the Six Nations
club gave Seaforth a real run for their
money, but a 5-4 win in overtime gave
Seaforth the series, and moved them a step
closer to an All Ontario title. The Seaforth
Atom Is will meet Lambeth in the semi-
finals.
In preparation for that confrontation the
Atom Is played an exhibition game against
the St. Thomas Major "AA" Atoms.
Seaforth came up with a 7-3 victory in that
game.

was at home and was a victorious game for
the boys.
After the first period the boys led 3-0.

Elma-Logan but Seaforth came out in the
third and got two more insurance goals.
Jason Murray got a hat trick and Matt
Vock and Colin Devereaux each got one.
Assists went to Mike Vock, Steve
VandenHenhel and Brad Moore.
Seaforth travelled to Brussels for game

Seaforth lads going in circles and they lost
both games without scoring a single goal.
Seaforth came back into their own
league and met up with Clinton. Once
again they were outplayed and Clinton
won.
The second game saw Seaforth come on
strong and score the first goal. At the end

The third game the boys really tried
their pest and gave it everything they had.
It was great hockey but unfortunately
Seaforth came out on the losing end again.
Better luck next year boys.
Seaforth had an exhibition game with
Stratford and held them to 2-0 to the last
four minutes of the game. Then Seaforth
fell asleep and Stratford scored three fast
goals. Scoring for Seaforth were Brad
Moore and Jason Murray.

On Friday, March 4, the Seaforth Novice
team eliminated Mitchell in their first round
of playoffs.
At 8:23 of the first Shaun Anstett started
the scoring off single handedly only to have
Mitchell tie it up two minutes later on a goal
by Jeff Brodhagen. Two minutes later Mit-
chell's Greg Van Bakel scored to give them
the go ahead 2-1. However, Seaforth finished
the period at a tie with 7 seconds left. Pat

of playoffs against Durham. The home ice
didn't seem to give them the advantage. The
puck was continuously going up and down
the ice keeping both goalies awake.

Local snowmobile team takes home gold
The Winter Olympics wasn't the only
sporting event in which a person could win
gold medals this winter, and the members of
Team Fun -the Seaforth area's oval racing
snowmobile team- got its share of recogni-
tion this year.
Bill Anderson, of Seaforth, and John
Munn, of Hensall, are the two drivers for the
local snowmobile club. They are helped out
by Craig Millar, of Londesborough, who is
their mechanic; and George Morrison, of
Mt. Bridges, who manages the team and
does a lot of the public realtions work.
Bill and John drive 19138 Arctic Cats -Bill
in the "B" Stock class and John in the "C"
Stack class. They are sponsored by Country
Corners, an Arctic Cat dealer in Mt.
Carmel. In addition Bill is also sponsored by
Eastern Market, Canadian distributers of
Arctic Cats.
For Team Fun the snowmobile season
starts long before the snow flies. Test runs
were made this year at the grass drags in
Seaforth, and following the grass drags Bill
took his sled to Eagle River, Wisconsin for
oval racing on wood chips.
The first oval race on ice was back in
Eagle River on December 20. Small things
that went wrong with the machines kept
Team Fun out of the running, and its drivers
didn't do very well.
"It was our first year on Arctic Cats," Bill
explains.
But by the time the first OSRF (Ontario
Snowmobile Racing Federation) race of the
year came up in Owen Sound they had iron-
ed out most of the wrinkles and Bill claimed
a second, two thirds, and a fourth. In the
club competition Bill, who belongs to the
Clinton and District Snowmobile Club, got
second; and John, who drives for the
Pineridge snowmobile club, placed third.
At the World Championship, held in Eagle
River on January 17 and 18, Team Fun com-
peted against the best drivers in North
America. John placed third in the "D"
Stock, "and I blew it" adds «ho didn't
place at the competition.
The season had its ups ' d downs or beth
drivers, with ev • from mechanical
troubles to hitting o ` er drivers keeping
them down, and Peter '-I rough, Ontario was
a typical example of thl:. Bill's suspension
broke during a race, and he had to finish the
race by making slow laps around the out-
side. Just being able to finish was a boon,
