IT'S NOT QUITE THE RIVIERA but it's close enough. Residents of the Queensway
Nursing Home took a trip down the Riviera, courtesy of a movie projector, when they
studied France at their monthly International Day. They also feasted on chocolate
eclairs and drank grape juice. Shown here with some French artifacts are Gord Beieri-
ing, Eileen Rennie and Edison Forrest. Edison, who has been to France, provided com-
mentary for the day. Mcllwraith photo.
Queensway starts week with midmornig tea
Queensway started its week on a relaxed
note with a midmorning tea party in the
sunroom. In the afternoon residents played
Bingo with the Kippen United Church
women. Thanks to the ladies for devoting
Monday afternoons.
Tuesday morning Fun and Fitness in the
Activity Room perked everyone up. The sun
streaming through the windows makes
residents long for summertime when they
can do their fitness program outdoors. In
the afternoon residents were pleased to
have Reverend Doug Richards lead the
weekly worship service.
Wednesday residents were busy mixing
up date bran muffins at Baking Club. They
sampled them fresh from the oven and
declared them delicious.
The monthly birthday party took place
Thursday afternoon. Residents were enter-
tained by Megan Donahue and Shannon
Kyle who performed several musical
numbers and Carol Gascho and Joyce Pep-
per as they sang duets. It was a fun filled
afternoon. Birthday greetings are extended
to Mabel Chowen, Harold Penhale and
Esther Barry. Thursday evening residents
attended the movie feature "Love Leads
The Way". An excellent movie about the
training of the first seeing eye dog and the
problems encountered as they struggled to
attain acceptance by the public.
Friday morning Resident Council met and
everyone inspected the new amplifier and
microphone system. This equipment was
purchased with funds raised by the
Queensway Ladies Auxiliary. Church ser-
vices and special programs will be much
more enjoyable now for the hearing im-
paired residents thanks to the Ladies Aux-'
iliary. Friday afternoon France was the
country featured ah -the international Day.
Residents viewed a film on "The French
Riviera" and listened to an informative talk
by Edison Forrest on his trip to France in
1983. Artifacts from France were loaned by
Eileen Rannie, Helen Anderson and Elva
Forrest. We ended the program with
refreshments consisting of grape, juice of
course and delicious chocolate Eclairs.
