Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacDonald had an en-
joyable trip to the Dominican Republic
recently.
Mrs. Harold Bragg had a trip to Panama
City, FLorida,'where she visited her brother
and other friends.
A large crowd of neighbors, friends and
relatives gathered in Cranbrook Communi-
ty Centre on February 17, for a bridal
shower for Heather Perri. Heather, her
mother, Brenda, and the groom's mother
Ann Williamson, were seated on decorated
chairs and Lois Hart conducted some enter-
tainment. An address written by Dorothy
Dilworth was read by Nancy Vanass. The
many gifts were then presented to Heather
after which she thanked everyone, and in-
vited them to the wedding reception on Mar.
5. Lunch was served by Darlene Wilson,
Mrs. Gordon, Julie Mitchell, Marie and
Sherri Tyerman, Mrs. Ross, and Julie
Mitchell.
Friday night, as usual turned out quite
snowy, but enough people for nine tables of
euchre braved the weather for the
Forester's card party. Most lone hands at
one table was won by Donald Clark, Adrian
Verstrop, Verna Crawford and Shirley
Verstrop, at lucky table, Mel Jacklin, Keith
Turnbull, Mildred Gill, Isabel Bremner,
highest score for a couple went to Verna
Crawford and Adrian Versteop. Lucky
tallies - Beryl Smith, Jack Conley, Jack Cox,
Bob Bremner, Becci Ruppel, Ken Mac-
Donald,
ao-Donald, June Jacklin, Harold Bragg, John
Subject. The Hall Board are hosting the
euchre Fri., Feb. 26 at 8:30.
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Starr and little
daughter visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton
on Thursday on their way to Florida.

McCallum of Walton were two of the approximately 200
snowmobilers at the Walton Poker Rally held on Sunday. 508

President, Helen Craig welcomed 16
members and one guest to the Walton
Women's Institute meeting Wednesday
evening.
Margery Huether was pianist for the In-
stitute Ode. Helen read a poem, "Something
good about you". Margaret Shortreed read
minutes and correspondence was dealt with.
An invitation was read from Ethel In-
stitute to attend their meeting on March 9 at
8 p.m.
There was quite a discussion to have
something to commemorate the 50 year
location of the present hall. A date of July 22
was set aside with plans for activities to be
decided at later meetings. A craft and
garage sale was brought up, but as yet it is
not known if there is munb,lr)terest.
Margaret Shortreed will attend the Grey
Variety Concert, February 28 to accept the
honor of merit of community service, honor-
ing group organizations. The Institute will
provide a supper, August 5 for the Blyth
Festival.
A program was presented by convenors
on Citizenship and Legislation. Berva Wat-
son read several items on 'Let the games
begin in Canada' then introduced Heidi Mc-
Clure who told of the traditions in the coun-
try where her ancestors came from. She
was also dressed in the clothes worn in
Switzerland. Heidi had a display of items
from her home background along with pic-
tures. Members also enjoyed slides of the
beautiful country side. Margery Huether
thanked Heidi and presented her with a
small gift of money on behalf of the
Institute.
The Institute Grace closed the meeting and
we returned to the basement where Mary
Humphries served donuts and coffee.
EUCHRE HELD
There were 10 tables of euchre in play
Thursday evening at the Institute Hall, con-
iened by Margery Huether, Berva Watson
and Marion Godkin.
Winners were for high. lady - Nora Kelly;
low - Ella Richmond, high man - Lavern
Godkin, low man - Millar Richmond, most
lone hands - Iona McLean. Birthday closest
to Feb. 29 - Ann Smith. Most 2 on card -
Lloyd Appleby. Highest scoring table -
Lavern Godkin,Nora Kelly, Mr.andMrs. R,
Brighton.
Lunch was served, the next euchre will be
held Thursday, March 17 at 8 p.m.
CELEBRATES 86th BIRTHDAY
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and Steven at-
tended the 86th Birthday Party for her
mother at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mack
Webster and family of Varna. Mrs. Watson
Webster celebrated her 86th Birthday on
Saturday. Also present were her husband
and daughter Nancy and Jack Holmes of
Clinton.
WALTON POKER RALLY
The Walton Area Sports Club held its an-
nual poker rally on Sunday. After a
cancellation two weeks ago, they were lucky
to have more snow, especially after the
storm that blew in Saturday afternoon.
Sunday did not look the best before noon
but cleared to a sunny and very cold after-
noon for those snowmobiles that took to the
route that had been staked out.
There were 508 hands sold with first prize
of $150 going to Paul Middegaal of Clinton,
second prize of $75 a to Gwen Hugill,
Seaforth; third prize of $50 to Leona
McDonald, RR 2 Blyth and fourth prize of
$25 to Monica Ryan, RR 1 Walton.
There had been 652 tickets sold on a four -
wheeler when the draw was made at 5 p.m.

The winner was Brian Finlayson. Second
prize, a helmet donated by Lynn Hoy, was
won by Paul Clark, Kitchener. Third prize of
$25 cash went to Steve Blake, RR 2 Brussels.
Dozens of other prizes, donated by local
and surrounding businesses were drawn for
as door prizes. This event's proceeds will be
used for Walton Area Minor Ball.
PEOPLE VISIT
Ruthie Thamer of Kitchener spent the
weekend with her mother Ruth Thamer.
Danny and Karen Achilles and baby son
went to Crystal Lake, trailer camp; Chris
Achilles and Tom Nigh, Stratford spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Rolly Achilles.
They participated in the Walton Poker Rally
on Sunday. Rick Taylor, Goderich visited
with his grandparents on Saturday.
