Grade 11 students getting to know Maplewood residents
Residents of Maplewood Manor had a
very enjoyable Valentine's Day. Tables
were specially decorated as well as a win-
dow painted with a Valentine scene. Thanks
goes to Anne Robinson for the terrific art
work. To add to the excitement of the day,
Gladys Van Egmond came and put on a
delightful program as she played many
favorite tunes on the piano and the
accordian.
Monday morning Grade 11 students from
Terri Brintnell's family studies class had a
tour of Maplewood. They will be coming
every Monday until the end of June. During
this time students will be going through a
"Getting to know one another" process with
residents. This will be accomplished
through such activities as crockinole and
checker matches as well as special baking
days. Residents as well as students will find
this very interesting.
Monday afternoon, several activities were
at hand. Bridge was the game for some,
while others enjoyed a game of euchre. Ise
Stanley and Jean Guy found that their com-
petition was too great against Grace Titford
and Jean Elliott as they tried their best at
crockinole.
Euchre was the name of the game for
Tuesday's activity with Ed Johns being the
lucky winner of the door prize - a crocheted
soap container. Residents enjoyed a
delicious meal of pancakes to celebrate
Shrove Tuesday. The kitchen staff were In the afternoon the monthly residents'

by Marion Rose when she came and played

Maplewood for church service with Winona

After the service, Rev. Barber visited with

the piano. In the evening another very suc-
cessful card party took place with the
Rebekahs and Oddfellows in charge. After a
very entertaining evening a social hour was
held as they enjoyed a delicious lunch of
cheese and fruit bread. Residents are look-
ing forward to a return visit.
Friday morning; Gail Hills came and
organized some of the recipes for the
Maplewood cookbook. Anyone having any
connection with the old school is welcome to
hand in recipes. Residents are happy to an-
nounce that they are enjoying the new addi-
tion to the dining room. Friday noon,
everyone took their place at the new seating
arrangement and are enjoying the extra
space and bright, cheery atmosphere the
addition provides.
Ruth Bock was welcomed as she came for
bingo on Friday afternoon. The lucky win-
ners were Ann Agar. Elsie Shaddick and Ed
Johns.

Last Monday the Ladies Baking Class was
busy in the morning making scones which
residents were able to sample for dinner.
Many favorable comments came back to
them oh their culinary arts.
In the afternoon two tables played euchre
while a number of ladies were cutting foam.
Tuesday morning volunteers students of
Seaforth Public School assisted with
wheelchair bowling and also had a friendly
greeting for all residents. In the afternoon
films were shown.
Worship service was conducted by the
Rev. Glenn Sadlier of Bethel Bible Church
on Wednesday afternoon, assisted by
several members of the congregation.
