There was a good attendance at the
Legion's Ribs and Kraut evening last Satur-
day despite the cold weather. Almost 200
members and guests were present. The rest
of the evening was spent dancing to the
music of "The" Country Companions".
Chairman of the entertainment committee
John Lansink would like to thank his com-
mittee and the members and guests who
contributed to the success of the evening.
At the end of the month on Saturday,
February 27 the Sports committee will be
holding a mixed euchre. A potluck supper
will preceed the euchre. These euchres have
been well attended in the past and the com-
mittee le hoping for a good number of
euchre players again this year.
This Saturday is the yearly Honors and
Awards banquet. There will be a social hour
from 6 to 7 p.m. and a hot roast beef dinner
served by the Ladies Auxiliary at 7 p.m. The
awards will be given out later. President
Jim would like to see a good show of
members in attendance. There are still a
number of membership cards waiting to be
picked up at the bar. Please make a point of
asking for your card when visiting the
Branch.
There will also be an Executive meeting
this Thursday at 8 p.m. President Jim would
like to remind all executive members and

FEENEY - Francis and Glenda are pleased
to announce the birth of their daughter
Michelle Kristen on Sunday, January 31,
at St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
-weighing 8 lbs., 6 ozs. Proud grandparents
are Al and Karen Geddes, Seaforth and Bill
and Catherine Feeney, Dublin. Great grand-
mother is Catherine Murray, Dublin.
JOE VAN VALKENGOED
Johannes (Joe) van Valkengoed of
McKillop Township, RR 2 Seaforth, died
Wednesday, February 3, 1988. He was 49.
Born in Holland, he was a son of the
former Christina Roethof of Holland, and
the late Reier van Valkengoed. He was a
retired farmer.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife,
the former Mary Koot and two sons, Rick of
British Columbia and Robert of Exeter.
Also surviving are seven brothers, Kees,
Vim, Antoon, Reier, Chris, Gys and Rinus;
five sisters, Annie, Stien, Lyda, Ans and
Joke, all of Holland; and his grandmother,
Stien Bieshaar of Holland.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey funeral home, Seaforth and Mass of
Christian burial was celebrated Saturday at
St. James Roman Catholic Church. Spring
burial will be in the church cemetery.
Parish prayers were said at the the
funeral home on Friday.
Pallbearers were Rodger Hoornaert,
Gerald Tenhag, Bill Pulles, Bill Van
Reenen, Bill Van De Wiel and Hanz Von
Euw.
ROBERT (BOB) WILLIAM VARLEY
Robert (Bob) William Varley of St.
Catharines, died Friday, January 29, 1988 at
the Hotel Dieu Hospital.
Mr. Varley worked for Silverwood Dairy
and Northside Dairy for many years. He
retired in 1980.
Mr. Varley is survived by his wife Mae
Varley, daughters Barbara Rees and
Marian Varley of St. Catharines, and sons
Bill Parley of St. Catharines and ,Linn Vurjey
of Thunder Bay.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren
and one brother, Arthur Varley of Seaforth.
He was predeceased by both parents, one
brother George and one sister Doreen.
Mr. Varley rested at the Butler Funeral
Home in St. Catharines and a funeral ser-
vice was held in the Chapel on Monday,
February 1. Cremation followed.
As expressions of sympathy donations
may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foun-
dation of Ontario.
MICHAEL MALANIUK
Michael Malaniuk of East William Street,
Seaforth, died Monday, February 8, 1988 at
the Stratford General Hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Malaniuk is survived by a stepson,
Jim Axtmann of RR 4 Walton, and a step-
daughter Rosa Fiddy of Brantford.
Also surviving are three sisters, Sophia,
Anne and Pearl and one brother Matt, all of
Manitoba; and 11 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the
former Lillian Robinson (Axtmann) and one
stepdaughter Betty Herbrick.
The family will receive friends at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth
after 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) until 2 p.m.
Friday, when a funeral service will be held.
Interment Maitlandbank Cemetery.
BENSON WARD TUCKEY
Benson Ward Tuckey of Exeter, died
Saturday, February 6, 1988 at the Exeter
Villa Nursing Home. He was 82.
The founder of the Gunther Tucker
Transport Company, now Laidlaw, Mr,
Tuckey is survived by a daughter-in-law,
Elsie Tuckey Herman of Exeter; and grand-
children, Christine Buchanan, Jane Brown,
and Mark, Van and Matthew Tuckey.
Also surviving are five great•
grandchildren; sisters, Berneice Davis of
Exeter and Inez Refuse of Thornhill; and
brothers, Elmore Tuckey of London and
Bruce and Oscar Tuckey of Exeter.
Mr. Tuckey was predeceased by his wife,
the former Arabelle Louis Hankin; one son
Ross; one sister Viola Elliott; and one
brother Cyril Tuckey.
Friends called at the R.C. Dinney Funeral
Home, ,Exeter and a funeral service was
held February 9. The Reverend Richard
Hawley officiated. Interment was in Exeter
Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy donations
may be made to the Canadian Diabetes
Society.
HENRIETTA GLEW
Henrietta Glew of Clinton died at the Clin-
ton Public Hospital on Monday, February 8,
l'.;4. She was 93.
The former Henrietta Cole, she is surviv-
ed by daughter Jean and husband Harold
Cummings of Seaforth; and grandchildren,
Sylvia and Ron Seeder of Monkton, Barbara
and Raymond Richardson of Shallow Lake
and Robert and Alva Cummings of Elmira.
Also surviving are eight great-
grandchildren and one great -great-
granddaughter.
Mrs. Glew was predeceased by her hus-
band Henry Glew, two sisters and five
brothers.
Friends called at the Ball and Falconer
Funeral Home, Clinton and a private
funeral service will be held today. Inter-
ment Clinton Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy memorial
donations may be made to the charity of
one's choice.
