Residents have had a busy week of ac-
tivities at Seaforth Manor.
Tuesday was wheel chair bowling in the
morning with students of Seaforth Public
School assisting. In the afternoon Bingo was
played and lucky bingos went to Eva Net-
zke, Doris Smith, Frank and Margaret
Smale, Wilma Brill, Margeurite Shill,
Elmer Bakey, Madge Remes, Harold
Walsh, Madeline Slattery and Edith Salo.
The Worship Service was held on Wednes-
day afternoon with Rev. Greg Gilson of St.
Thomas Anglican Church in charge.
Thursday afternoon was euchre with
volunteers. Winners were: ladies' high,
Cassie Nicholson and men's high, Patrick
Ryan. Most lone hands was won by Ed Dunn
and consolation went -to Doris Smith and
Bert Deichert. Mary Chapple provided
lunch and Mary McIver prizes for the
euchre.
Friday afternoon residents viewed the
V.C.R. tape on the Life of Patsy Cline. At
noon hour Friday residents, staff and
management all gathered in the dining area
to honor Evelyn Carter on her retirement
from Seaforth Manor. Evelyn had been an
employee for 12 years and most of this time
as head cook. Patrick Ryan presented her
with a gift on behalf of the residents. The
staff presented her with • a silk flower ar-
rangement and on behalf of management
Evelyn received a lovely engraved silver
tray. With a few well chosen words Evelyn
thanked everyone for their gifts and no
doubt has many happy memories of her
years at Seaforth Manor.
Monday afternoon was Indoor Gardening
Day and all the amaryllis bulbs were cared
for. To date Margaret and Frank Smale's
bulb has grown by leaps and bounds this
past week with three bud stalks and one is 19
inches in height. Wilma Brills is a close se-
cond with only one stalk appearing as yet.
Several others grew six to ten inches during
the week. They are creating great interest
Maplewood residents enjoy walking
Residents of Maplewood Manor were busy
this week with many different activities.
Many went out for walks and enjoyed the
bright sunny afternoons.
Monday afternoon Johana Goodman
brought a display of Avon products which
residents found quite interesting.
Tuesday's activity was the popular game
of euchre. Those taking part were Gertie
Taylor, Jean Johns, Jean Guy, Grace Tit -
ford, Ann Agar and Ise Stanley.
Wednesday afternoon, footcare was held
at Maplewood. This service is provided by
nurses from the Huron County Health Unit
and is greatly appreciated by the residents
and the rest of the community.
TV bingo was the event for Wednesday
evening as Pete Tremeer, Elsie Shaddick
and Isa Stanley tried their luck.
Thursday was a busy day at Maplewood.
In the afternoon members of the Huron Str-
ings came and provided musical entertain-
ment for the residents. Favorite old time
tunes were certainly enjoyed by all.
Thursday evening members of the
Lioness Club came for euchre. Residents
are always ready for a good game of cards
and get a lot of enjoyment from this game.
Ladies high went to Jean Johns. Ladies
low to Gertie Taylor. Mens high-F.d .iohne
among the residents.
PERSONALS
Visiting with Mary K. Ryan during the
week were Geraldine Wilson and Mary
Margaret Maloney. also on Sunday her son
Maurice Ryan visited. On Friday George
and Teresa Simpson visited with her.
Glen Rose was visited by son Jim and wife
Marion.
Visiting with Ev Cardno were the Orren's
from Michigan.
Walter Sommerville visited with Mamie
Ross last Thursday.
Helen Morris was visited on Sunday by
Mary Louis and Pat Jordan and on Saturday
son Bill took his mother out for a drive.
Visiting with Frank and Margaret Smale
was Ethel Heist.
Barbara Alexander visited with her
mother Cassie Nicholson last Thursday.

Bill Scott was visited by wife Isabel.
Gladys Ruston spent Sunday with her
family in Stratford.
Len Bloomfield attended a hockey game
in Brussels on Sunday.
Ross and Lillian Nicholson visited Sunday
with the former's mother Cassie Nicholson.
Norma Jeffrey was visited by Sheila
Norton.
Inez Spittal was visited by her son Allan.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Swinkles visited with
Glen Rose.
Audrey Cameron visited her mother-in-
law Verda Cameron on Saturday.
Janice Morris visited with Helen Morris.
Dave and Eva Netzke were visited by
their son-in-law Pat Altman.

went to Nettie Rose and Ethel Coleman. The
evening ended with a delicious lunch provid-
ed by the Lioness Club.
Friday morning residents gathered in the
living room and enjoyed a sing song led by
Winona McDougall.
In the afternoon, there was good atten-
dance at bingo when Ruth Bock came to call
the game. Those taking part were Wilson
Tremeer, Gertie Taylor, Ethel Coleman,
Jean Johns, Ed Johns, Anne Crerar, Elsie
Shaddick and Isa Stanley. Bridge was also
enjoyed by Austin Matheson, Winona
McDougall, Nettie Rose and Lloyd Rowat.
Welcome back to Anne Henderson and Ed
Johns after their stay in hospital.
Papple, Harburn
score high at euchre
The Oddfellows and Rebekahs held a
euchre January 27.
The winners were: ladies' high, Olive
Papple; ladies' lone hands, Ida Diehl;
Ladies' low, Mrs. Ken Preszcator; men's
high, Ernie Harburn; men's lone hands,
Lloyd Pipe and men's low, Peter Malcolm.
The next euchreyill be held February 24.

OBITUARIES
COUNTRY BULK EXPANSION SALE
MARY LE
Mary Le, of Vanastra, died in the Brant-
ford General Hospital on January 24. She
was six years old.
Miss Le was born in Stratford on May 29,
1981 to Lam and Chau Le. The Les had mov-
ed from Laos to a camp in Savannakhet,
Thailand where they lived for three years
before they were able to come to Canada in
June of 1980. They were sponsored by the
Catholic parish of St. Columban their first
year here and during that time they lived for
a while in both Seaforth and St. Columban.
In 1982, the Les moved to their present home
in Vanastra.
Miss Le was a member of St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church, Clinton.
Shp is survived by her parents, four
sisters, Nga, Nguyet, Hong and Loan, all at
home, as well as her aunt and uncle, Nghia
and Hiep Do of Vanastra.
Miss Le was predeceased by a twin sister,
Ann Le.
Miss Le rested at the Ball and Falconer
Funeral Home, Clinton and a funeral mass
was held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church on January 27 with Rev. John Pluta
officiating. All of the students of St. Joseph's
School attended the funeral mass.
Pall bearers were four students from St.
Joseph's School, Gerry Cappelli, Michael
McCienaghan, Danny Van Bakel and Brian
Van Steelandt.
Interment in Clinton Cemetery.
GEORGINA HARRIS
Georgina Harris, formerly of Goderich
Township and London, died January 30 at
Huronview in Clinton. She was 89.
A daughter of the late George Hudie and
Minnie Fair, she is survived by one brother
George Hudie of Clinton, and several nieces
and nephews.
Mrs. Harris was3 predeceased by her
husbands, Stewart Douglas and Harold Har-
ris and three sisters, Tellesille Storey, Lola
Mizner and Muriel Shortreed.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaforth and a
funeral service was held Tuesday. Inter-
ment Greenlawn Cemetery, Windsor.
FRANK KNIGHT
Frank Knight died Thursday, January 28,
1988 at the Scarborough Hospital He was 84.
A.son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Knight
of Ceaforth he is survived by his wife
Evelyn; son Harold of Hensall; son,Rtonald
of Georgetown; several sons and daughters
in the Scarborough area; and one sister
Florence (Mrs. J.F. Ritchie).
He was predeceased by brothers Orie,
Norman, Alvin, Carol and Leslie.
The funeral service was held from the
Jarett Funeral Home, Scarborough, with
burial in Scarborough Cemetery.
