Novice team records two wins on weekend
On Saturday, January 23, the Seaforth
Novice hockey team played a game at home
against Mitchell.
Only 12 seconds into the game Mitchell
players Trevor Horan and Scott Chessell
took the puck from the face off down the ice
and scored catching the whole Seaf h
team off guard.
The Seaforth team, not sure how they le
this happen, had a very tough first period
and could not manage to score themselves.
But one minute into the second period Shaun
Anstett, assisted by Jered Munro and Scott
Wood, started the scoring for Seafrrth.
Then, back into the swing of things, Seaforth
scored again one minute later when Jason
Smith assisted by Chris Marion and Bran-
don Nash popped one m net.
Novice team has
no loss record
With the second period half over Mitchell handedly with only 56 seconds left in the
scored again and the game was tied 2-2. first period.
The third period was like a whole different The second period again was only pro -
game. Seaforth's Pat Gridzak scored fitable for the home team with Chris Marion
assisted by Shaun Anstett and Mark Van counting himself a hat trick - two single-

__–Anstett scored again at 7:54, unassisted. It
was only Seaforth who managed to score
one more in the third, when Brandon Nash
made a beautiful pass to Chris Marion
allowing him to score. The final score of the
game was 6-2 for Seaforth.
On Sunday, another home game saw Clin-
ton face off against the local novice team. Seaforth won 6-3 over Clinton!
The boys didn't want to start another game Congratulations to the Seaforth Atom's

The first period saw back and forth
hockey with each teagl}„having several seer
ing opportunities, but no one managing Lo
get on the scoreboard.
Seaforth's Shaun Anstett was the first one
to score on a pass from Pat Gridzak. It was
the only goal of the period.
The third period proved quite exciting for
the fans with each team giving its all. Strat-
ford tied the game up at the 7:07 mark, then
worked hard to hold off the opposing team.
But Seaforth's determination and hard work
paid off in the end, when Pat Gridzak on a
pass from Jered Munroe, scored with only
38 seconds remaining. The game ended in 2 -
1 in Seaforth's favor.
On Tuesday, January 19 the Seaforth
Novice travelled to Clinton to play a re-
scheduled season game.
The first period was scoreless even though
Seaforth had a man advantage after Clinton
received a penalty for body contact.
However, the second period saw three
goals scored for Seaforth. Credit for these
go to Brent Hulley, Mark Vart Dooren and
Shaun Anstett, assisted by Jason_Smith, (2),
Charles Robertson, Pat Gridzak, Jered
Munro and Pat Coyne.
Shaun Anstett added the fourth goal m the
third period on a beautiful pass from Pat
Gridzak and Jered Munro. Clinton too
managed to pop one in the net leaving the
final score 4 - 1 for Seaforth.
The Novice Team is to be congratulated
on its record this season. It has eight wins,
one tie and 0 losses to its credit in regular
season play.
To add to this the team, with help from its
coaches, has two tournament wins - the
Seaforth Novice Tournament and the Silver
Stick Tournament in Parkhill. The boys
travel to Michigan this weekend to par-
ticipate in the American International
Tournament.
Clinton came alive in the third scoring at
7:37 but Seaforth came right back with
Brandon Nash only one minutre later stick -
handling down the ice and single-handedly ,,
popping one in! Clinton came back with tw6
more goals, however ran out of time.

SEAFORTH 19 - CLINTON 0
On Friday night the Seaforth Tweens
Ringette team travelled to Clinton to play an
exhibition game. As this wag only Clinton's
second game, because of being a newly
formed team, Seaforth took advantage of
the fact and shut them out 19 - 0.
Andrea Gingerich played in net for
Seaforth, but it was a boring game for her as
there was hardly any action in the Seaforth
end.
Scoring for Seaforth were: Tracy Fortune
with four goals and five assists; Kris Gem-
mell with four goals and one assist; Julie
Carter with three goals and two assists;
Melody Turner with three goals and one
assist: Jodie Hugill with two goals and four

on Monday, February 8 from 7 to 8 pm for
4-7 years, and 8-9 pm for 8 to 16 years. This
will be a 10 week program and registration
fee will be $30 per child or $75 for a family of
three or $100 for a family of four. Registra-
tion will be held on Saturday, January 30
from 10 am to 12 noon, at the Seaforth and

A WOOD CARVING program begins
tonight at the High School from 7:30 to 9:30
pm. This will be a 10 week program and
registration fee will be $30. Instructor Chris
Wybrow will take each person through the
steps of carving a life size shore bird. Please
call the recreation office to register or for

SENIOR SHUFFLEBOARD continues
every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 4
pm at the Community Centres. Last week's
winners were: Ladies-Racheal T V 371,
Hazel McGonigle 329, Rita Van A 322.
Men -Lloyd Hoggarth 386, Gordon MacKen-
zie 278, Bert Walters 375.
The Seaforth Branch Library presents
assists; Robyn Carnochan with two goals
and four assists; and Kim Rau with one goal
and one assist.
SEAFORTH 9 - EXETER 2
On Sunday in Seaforth the Tweens played
a regular scheduled game against Exeter
and came up the winners by a score of 9 - 2.
Andrea Gingerich played a good game in
net stopping a lot of Exeter's shops.
Scoring in this game were: Tracy Fortune
with five goals; Cheryl McLlwain with two
goals and one assist; and Jill Betties and
Jodie Hugill getting one goal and one assist
each.
Also picking up assists were Julie Carter, "
Kerry McMillan and. Kim Rau, each Lwith
two.

The Seaforth RINGETTE Association viii
be delebrating RINGETTE WEEK by crav-
ing a Fun Night. The Fun Night will be held
on Sunday, February 14, 1 + ; beginning at 5
pm. Plans are to have each team playing ex-
hibiton games against other teams. The
Bunny, Novice and Petites are to play the
moms at 5 pm. All interested moms are ask-

Tweens will be matched against a mystery
team' at 6:00 pm and the Juniors will be
showing off their skills against the Ringette
Dadsat 7:00 pm. All interested dads, please
