'January has come and almost gone, but
the January -blahs are still kicking around.
The comparatively mild weather we have
been getting lately has taken some of the
numbness out of the blahs, but most of the
people in Seaforth admit they are in the
wintery clutches of the blahs in one way or
another.
Some of the winter veterans in Seaforth
have methods of combating the blahs, which
they have shared with The Expositor, and
we in turn pass on to you.
TRUDY BROOME, Seaforth's Librarian,
says she hasn't even noticed the, blahs this
month, as she does all her spring cleaningJi)
January. She says if she gets it all chine now
she will have free time when the weather
gets nicer.

BEATING THE JANUARY BLAHS is easy when you've got two young children like
Lorri Anne Moore. Her two children, Nicole and Michael, keep her busy year round and
there is no room for boredom to step in.
LORIANNE MOORE has a couple of pre-
school children, Nicole and Michael, who.
keep the January blahs away from her.
JIM WATSON says the Legion keeps the
blahs away from him. He has something to
do there three or four nights each week, and
plays euchre there every two weeks. His
method of beating the blahs also involves
taking a vacation in February or March to
help speed the winter. He is going to head
south to Florida to get in some golf.
ANNE WOOD doesn't get to go on
holidays though, and like most of us has to
suffer through the winter. She says she goes
to work every day and thinks about summer
and that keeps the blahs at their distance.
"Go to all the hockey games," is how IDA
MCLLWAIN advises to keep busy during the
winter. Mrs. Mcllwain has two grandsons
playing hockey, so she hasn't found January
too bad. She has also gone on several trips to
see her Grandson Dave McElwain playing
with the Pittsburgh Penguins, which helped
to speed the winter along.
STEPHEN HUS•SFY has one of the more
severe cases of boredom in Seaforth, and he
really doesn't see there is much he can do
about it in Seaforth But he has developed a
system of sorts to try and keep the blahs at
bay. He says you have to start the day with a
coffee at Ginettes, and end the day with a
coffee at the Pizza Train. Somewhere bet-
ween that you work in 13 hours of T.V.
NANCY STAPLES' idea is a little more
exciting than Mr. Hussey's. She just got
back from a trip to Nashville. While there
she saw Opryland and did a lot oiaightsee-
ing "A little trip after Christmas never
hurts," she says.
Many of the older people of Seaforth,
winter veterans, don't need much to get
them through the winter. Just talking to a
friend at the post office was enough to keep
two elderly gentlemen occupied for most of
one afternoon last week.
The people of Seaforth come up with a lot
of ways to get through the January blahs;
some interesting, and some pretty blab
themselves. People will drink, participate in
sports, watch sports, go to work every day,
go to town and get the mail, and any number
of other things to try and keep busy.
But from what is evident by polling and
talking tothe people of Seaforth, the only
ways to ensure oneself of a blah -free
January is to either go to a tropical island,
or to have a baby.
