LADIES BROOMBALL
COMMERCIAL 0 PERTH 1
An evenly matched game unfortunately a
slight mishap occurs for Commercial giving
the win to the Perth ladies. Lynda Doupe
took a shot on net. The ball travelled evenly
across the ice,and directly under the
goalie's glove to the net.
FARMERS 0 PARR LINIEa 12
Not quite a "bakers dozen" for Parr Line.
Heidi Elliott and Joan Henderson were com-
petitive for goals and assists in this game.
Sandra Wilson was consistent also for ex-
uberant playing with the help of Sue Anne
Van Miltenburg, and Deb Hannah. A shot by
Sandi Fremlin was aided by Dianne Shap -
ton. Lorri Symons squeezed in a goal also
thanks to the help of Lori Hill. Jr. Farmer
ladies keep up your enthusiasm.
WI NTRROP 1 QUEENS 2
Cheryl Kruse led the Queens with the first
goal as a result of a scramble in front of the
opposing goalie's net. Back up was Brenda
Empy. This lady has been no slouch lately
and Brenda Empy got the lead for the
Queens poking the ball into the net. Help
came from Jean Haggitt and Cheryl Kruse.
The Winthrop ladies were in full force with
great eagerness and were never idle. Donna
Arts showed her *ills in front of the net and
teams are
chopped the ball over the goalie's head.
Both Donna and the goalie were on their
knees admiring the pass that Deb Murray
slammed over.

Tony Vandenheuvel broke down the side
line and zoomed across in front of the oppos-
ing goalie then drilled the ball into the ton
right hand corner of the net. What a
devastating Ahot. His defendent was Mike
Vandenheuvel. Another repeat performance
by Tony who got his own rebound from the
opposing goalie's d drove it at the
goalie again to score. egance came
from Hugh Crawford and Mike
Vandenheuvel. The Royals kept up a steady
pace but no paints were achieved.
MUSTANGS 0 - WINTHROP 2
Ross Mitchell started the ball rolling as he
received a graceful push into the opposing
goalie's net taking of course the ball with
nun. Moss needed no assistance. Dave
Hulley wasted no time on this delivery shot
as his reflexes were capable of creating
havoc. He required help from Brad Camp -
Pee Wees see plenty of hockey
The Seaforth Pee Wee team travelled to
Blyth on December 28 and played some good
clean hockey. They started the scoring in
the first period but Blyth fought hard and
tied it at one. The second period saw
Seaforth go ahead but once again Blyth bail
it up. By the end of the second Seaforth was
ahead by one.
In the third period it all went Seaforth's
way as they gained four more goals and held
Blyth scoreless. The final score was 9-4 with
Steve Papple getting a hat trick. Brian

tion bowled in St. Marys on Saturday,
January 9. Murray Bennewies led the
Tigers with games of 204, 238, 261, 316 and
204 for a 1223 five game total. roger Ed-
wards with high games of 325, 252 -1143, and
Erich Matzold 282, 265, 233 -1136 also bowled
well for Seaforth.
Jamie Ransley was high bowler for St.
Marys as he continues to be the top bowler
in the Mens Intertown League; He had.
games of 294, 217, 378, 257, 233 for a 1379
total. Brian Wood also had a fine total with
games of 296, 177, 277, 275, 248 - 1273.
Saturday, January 16, Seaforth will bowl
in Lucan; Sunday, January 24 the Tigers
will host Mitchell and January 30 it will be
Seaforth at New Hamburg.
The Tiger averages -after 17 weeks are
Murray Bennewies 255, Jack Fuller 229,
George Love 224, Erich Matzold 221, Neil
Beuerman 220, and Roger Edwards 210.
Seaforth
Melady and Brian Little two goals each and
Paul Dolmage and Jason Beuttenmiller one
each. Assists went to Kalen Carroll. Pat
Maloney, Steve Hicknell, Derek Gridzak
and the rest of the team.
On January 2 Seaforth was at home to
Milverton and after having two previous ties
both teams were eager to play hard hockey.
At the end of the first period, Milverton was
ahead by one. The second period belonged to
Milverton alone and try as Seaforth did they
just couldn't get the puck in the net.
Seaforth got luckier in the third and got two
goals but it was much too late and Milverton
won 7-3. Scorers were -B. Little, K. Carrell,
Mike Watt, assists J. Hugill, H. McNichol,
B. Little, D. Gridzak.
On January 5 the boys travelled to Mit-
chell after the weather settled down a bit.
But maybe it should have stormed harder as
they came home with a loss of 7-0.
On January 9 Seaforth went to Ripley and
met Lucknow in the tournament. Rumor
had it that chances were slim as this was a
real tough team but the guys were prepared
and played some real super hockey.
Although Lucknow got the first two goals
Seaforth came back and tied it up. This con-
tinued until the third and Seaforth was
always coming from behind. But they held
them to a tie as time ran out. In the five
minute overtime period Seaforth held them
until the 19 second mark when one hit the
post and dropped in. What a super game and
a super goalie. All the boys played a great
game and proved to the fans they are
capable of good hockey playing. Scorers for
this game were Steve Papple (2), Paul
Dolnnage, Brian Melady with assists from
Paul Dolmage, pat Maloney and Steve
Papple.

bell. Mustangs were capable of scoring but
no one was in the right place at the right
time.
BUSTLERS 1- PARR LINE 0
The only way Art Vernstra managed to
score on this fellow was to catch him down
on the ice and then try a flip shot over his
head before the opposing goalie retrieved it
out of the air, anywhere. Help for Art came
from Rick Elliott and. Robert Anderson. The
Parr Line goalie was the saver of this game
as his men couldn't get any breaks on
scoring. 1L
CHIISELHUEST 3 - RATS 3
The first half of this game was all
Chiselhurst as Al Wynja got the first goal -
an elevated shot from the blue line. He
scored as the opposing goalie was screened
by thousands. Terrance Maloney was by his
side. Don Nicholson needed no help as, he
took a wide angle shot. Mike Kelly tipped
the ball in over the goalie's head from a pass
from Gary Dill. The second half of the game
the Rats came alive. These two defence
were the leaders. Robert Flunking swung
and scored amazing himself and his helper
Bill Brown Jr. Next came cunning Robert
McGregor as he scurried down the ice
dashing around everybody and blasting a
suitable shot to score unassisted. Last but
not least another defenceman tied the game
up, as Terry Morey delivered a follow
through shot on his knees. Assisting were Ed
Van Miltenburg and Gordon Edwards.
DUMPERS 4 - KNIGHTS 0
Tom Burke knew exactly what to do as -the
ball touched his broom and he drove it clean
by the goalie. Frank Flanagan and Larry
Dolmage helped. Bill Dale was given a
distress shove and was rolling around on the
ice but still managed to score a goal. John
Cairns reached out for this spunk pass and
low and behold he squabbles a. nerve goal,
also unassisted. John also was credited for
the last goal as he took a quick pass from
Bill Dale and Jim Finlayson to beat the
buzzer on the clock. Knights seemed lost
and were running everywhere but in the
right direction. Both these teams had ample
time for more goals as plenty of penalties
were given to each team giving them a rest
period for scoring.
