As is seen here, the Penguins had a lot of one man rushes, and while they cashed in on a few of them the Hawks hung on to win 8-6. Seaforth Novice starts new year with 11-0 win over Brussels Saturday, January 2, 1988, the Seaforth Novice Team hosted Brussels to a big game of hockey. The fust period wasn't very profitable for either team with only one goal being award- ed to Seaforth Jered Munro scored on a break -away assisted by Shaun Anstett. Thesecond period seemed to be a little easier for the home team. At 6:45 of the se- cond Chris Marion single-handedly popped one in on another breakaway. Then at 3:47 Mark Van Dooren assisted by Pat Gridaak counted number three, and one minute later Shaun Anstett counted another, assisted by Jason Smith. At 1:17 Chris Marion counted another for the home team making it 5-0 for the home team. At 12:34 of the third period Shaul Austen, assisted by Jason Smith, again scored. At thu 19-m mor -1r _ ... '11 ,'all it tiro ditto rilvv - this time Pat Coyne assisting. Shaun Anstett scored yet again, assisted by Jason Smith and Pat Coyne. Seaforth did lots of passing and Brussels was unable to turn the play around in the third period, so it looked good for Seaforth. At 7:09 Shaun Anstett just could not be slowed down when he counted number four for himself with Smith again assisting. Brandon Nash also showing us some great moves managed to score assisted by Scott Van Dooren and Jered Munro at the 4:36 mark of the fleet period. This game just wasn't meant -far Brussels, and it was only Seaforth's Jason Smith who managed to ,count one more on the scoreboard assisted by Shaun and Pat Coyne. The final score of the game was 11- 0 for Seaforth over Brussels. Tigers down Stratford in intertown bowling The Tigers' kept pace with the first place Cougars in the St. James Bowling League on Monday December 28. The Tigers downed the Jaguars 7-4) and climbed into second place. George Love led the scoring with games of 276, 226, 262 for a 764 triple. Pat Nolan 246-596 and Karen Hoegy 225-543 also bowled well. Gerry Armstrong was high for the Jaguars with 185, 293-226 and a 704 total. Pat Kenny 194-497, and Shirley Brugger 1964190 were next best for their team. The League leading Cougars held first place with a 7-0 victory over the Panthers. Richard Love 299-634, Don Nolan 228, 216,622 and Cathy Broome 241-098 were high for the Cougars. Dan Bennewies 184-541 was high for the Panthers. The Leopards edged the Lions 4-3 with Terry Morey leading the way with 284-661, Ken Moran 253.605 and Sandy Broadfoot 219849. Murray Bennewies had another ex- cellent night with games of 281, 246 and 350 for an 877 triple. Laverne Nigh 210-537 and Bob Feeney 205-502 also helped the Lions scores. Atom t I advan The high bowlers for the month of December were: Most Improved Lady - Pat Nolan plus 6 and for the men George Love plus 6. Ladies HMgh Triple - Cathy Broome 677. High Single had Cathy Broome, Pat Nolan and Brenda Kenny all with 246. For the hien Murray Bennewies had an 877 triple and Dan Bennewies a 352 single. Team Standings after sixteen weeks are Cougars - 66, Tigers - 61, Jaguars - 56, Leopards - 55, Pnathers - 53, Lions - 45. TOWN AND COUNTRY On December 7, the high scores for the ladies were Single - Rose Feeney 244, Triple - Sharon Forest 589, Average - Sharon Forest 195. Men - Single and Triple, Laver Hoegy 316-672 and Average Reg Dick 226. Oil ember 23, site highs for the ladies were J Green 329-654 and Average - Charlene Caskenette 201. For the men, John Steffen was ..gi h with 305-651 and Reg Dick with a 225 Average. Team Standings Hulksters - 50, Ramblers - 48, Happy Gang - 46, Oogs - 40. The Seaforth Tigers downed Mike's from Stratford 261-21% in Men's Inter -town Bowl - e to North Ameri The Seaforth Atom I's advance to North American Atom Silver Stick in Sarnia. The Seaforth team advanced with wins over Mount Forest 11-2, Durham 841, Kin- cardine 4-0 and Drayton 7-2. The reason for the team's success in the tournament was mainly good team work. The boys put into play what they've worked on so hard in practice - mainly fast skating puck handl- ing, shooting and passing. All members of the team are playing their best hockey so far this season. It was a complete team effort Goals in Mount Forest game went to Mike Devereaux who scored two, Mike Watt who got three, Mike Moylan who also got a hat trick, and Mike Weber, Mike Hugell and Jason Henderson with one. each. Assists went to Joe Murray three, Mike Devereaux four, Boyd Devereaux three, Mike Weber two, Mike Moylan, Justin Rodney, Mike Watt, Jeff Flanagan and Steve Mclnally each with one. In the Durham games goals -went to Mike Devereaux -three, Boyd Devereaux two, with one each to Joe Murray, Mike Weber, Mike Watt- Assists went to Jason Henderson three, Mike Moylan two, Mike Weber two, and one each to Mike Devereaux, Jeff Flanagan, Justin Rodney, Boyd Devereaux, ing League action bowled at Starlight Lanes on Saturday January 2. Nell Beuerman led the Tigers with games of 258, 331, 206, 225, 209 for a 1229 total. Edwards 272, 221-1034 and Dan Bennewies 222, 216 and with 2% wins helped the Seaforth scoring. Alf Baker 255, 228, 246-1140 and Larry Schooley 277, 237-1122 were next best for Mike's. After fifteerigeeks the Injertown Stan- dings were as follows: Goderich 486%, Bowl Mor 431, Seaforth 386%, Clinton 362%, St. Marys 35,3, Lucan 338% Mitchell 332, New Hamburg 332, Mike's 3111%, Zurich 261.
