Antique auto is a winner
On June 3 the national judging meet of the
Historical Automobile Society of Canada,
was held at the Ontario Agricultural
Museum grounds at Milton.
There were eight classes for vehicles and
the winner of the commercial class went to
Lawrence Machan, Brussels for his 1936
Dodge half ton.
Lawrence has owned this truck for three
years, and for the last year and a half it had
been under restoration at McNeil's Auto
Body, Brussels. The truck was taken off the
frame andthe interior and rechroming was
done. This vehicle was displayed at the
Brussels Tradefest in 'April.
On lune 9 and 10 the truck was displayed
at the Antique Car Show and Flea Market in
lifford. Vehicles were chosen as "People's
Choice" and .the general public voted on
these antique cars.
The first prize plaque went to Ron
Mccachern, Orangeville for his 1932 Ply -
month roadster. Second prize went to Don
McNeil, Brussels for his 1958 Chevrolet
Impala Convertible and third went to
Lawrence Machan's 1936 Dodge half ton..
The truck will be in many parades and
shows in the area over .the summer.

Jennifer Sottiaux accompanied .on piano by
Darleen Hulley.
Guest speaker. Janet Clark of Wingham'
introduced by Betty Hulley. Ms. Clark spoke
on coping with terminal illness and'.death in
the family from her experience.- -
A farewell address was read to Colin and
Jane Swan by Audrey ,Thompson and
presented with a gift from UCW by Clara
Riley. 1

School was, held June 22 with 31 graduates
and their parents.
Speakers at the graduation dinner included
grace and toast to Queen by Trisha Plant,
introduction of head table, Troy Hoggart,
toast to graduates, Mr. W. Whyte, reply
Bryan Howatt, introduction of teachers Brian
Whyte, toast to teachers Susan Govenlock,
reply Barbara Bosman, toast to parents Mark
Wallace; reply Frank Szusz, appreciation to
the ladies Crystal Whyte, reply Margaret
'Anderson, toast to. school board Lori
Brprnley, reply G. Craig, toast to school Fred
" Peel, reply Mr.' A. 'MacLennan.
The grade eight choir and band -presented
three numbers wit i.Barb Bosman at piano. A
guitar solo was played by Bryan Howatt and a
piano duet • by Lisa Bosman and Lori
Livermore.
Awards were 'liven for history and
geography to Jamie Cook, for French to
Deanna Lyon, for math to Kelly Vodden; for
English to Terry Shepherd.
The penmanship award went to Lori
Livermore, the outstanding athletes• to girl,
Lori Bromley and boy to• Brian Whyte.
For Home Economics and Industrial Arts
the awards went to Crystal Whyte and Mark
• Wallace. The outstanding effort and co-
operation award went to Fred Peel.
Awards to outstanding graduates were to
Susan Govenlock and Michael Radford.
Julia Shaddick introduced guest speaker,
Mr. P. Carroll and appreciation was given by
Lisa Bosman. Stephen Kennedy introduced
valedictorian Brad Millson who spoke ori
memories.
On Tuesday June 19 a bus load from
Londesboro, Blyth, Clinton sponsored by the
Senior Citizens went to Halton County, on a
guided tour of the Ontario Agriculture
museum at Milton.

Nothing lasts forever. Sunshine and rain,
joy and misery come and go. Without the bad
how could we appreciate the good.
Brussels Ontario bicentennial celebra-
tions, sponsored by Brussels, Morris and
Grey Township, are' in flrll swing and will
continue until 'July 1. Various activities have
been arranged. The first three days feature
the popular Farm Show in the centre ring of
Brussels Stockyards. This time the actors on
stage are all local folks. There is a quilt
display and quilting bee id the former
