Manor residents �1
A number of events were held at Seaforth
Health Care Facility this past week.
Marie Flynnand orchestra played Tuesday
afternoon on the lawn and residents enjoyed
dancing on the driveway.
Residents of Kilbarchan Nursing Horne
were guests and a number of neighbors and
friends came to hear the lilting music.
Gary Boyle favored with several Selections
and also teamed up with Maxine Elliott for a
vocal duet. Sid Pearson thanked the musi-
cians for their fine entertainment.
New patio furniture recently purchased by
residents through their New Horizon's Grant
has been very much in use and enhances the .
patio area.
Wednesday a Tea -Bake Sale and 'Penny
Sale was held with a good response from the
public. All proceeds from this endeavor will
go to the Alzheimer's Society.
Pouring tea were Cassie Nicholson, Mary
McIver, Anne Helm and Margaret Smale.
In charge of the tea room were Anne
Rowland and Susan Byrne and waitresses
were Leanne Whitmore, Carol Ann Glanville,
Elizabeth Hoven and Anne Rlbey,
The Bake Sale and Penny Sale were held in
the activity room and baking was completely]
sold out.
Friday morning a special'olympic events
were held with Junior Volunteers assisting.
Each team was captained by a wheelchair
resident and the winning team after the•seven
events was Captain Edith Solo, Wilma Brill,
James Tatulis and Penny Caza.
Nine teams of residents participated in the
events. Following the Olympics a barbecue
was enjoyed by all. •
Volunteers this term were Jennifer.Hugill,
Nancy Godkin, Cathy Carter, Leanne Dol-
mage, Verenica Glanville., Tracy Roth,
Jeremy Lane, Paul McLlwain and Stephen
Fritz. -

Mrs. Key read the scripture and Donnie
Snaith.led in prayer. Edith McMillan gave a
reading,
Several CGIT girls were present•at the
meeting and Barbara Rivers read "What" is
CGIT". Mrs. Duke was a willing leader
sharing her time and 'talent with the girls.
The group presented Mrs. Duke with a pin
in honor of her leadership On behalf of the

pp was presented to Mrs. Duke by Lillian
Kerslake.'
On Thursday, June 21 "following a -smorgas-
bord supper, the Barbara Kirkman and WMS
came to order of the First Presbyterian
Church manse.
Mabel McMichael opened the meeting
with a poem and Esther Thompson read an
account of her sister's work and witness in
Africa a number of years ago. She spoke -of
the trials and mishaps and also. the rewarding
work of the missionary field workers. Mrs.
Thompson had another sister visiting with
her to share in the fellowship.

OBITUARY
JAMES McQUAID
James McQuaid, 83, of Seaforth, died on
Tuesday, June 19 at his home.
Be was predeceased by his wife, Agnes'
Eckert, one son, Ronald, a brother Frank and
two sisters, Mary and Norah.
Surviving are two sons, F nk and Roy,
both of Oshawa, twa.,da ters, Patricia,
Mrs. Pat Murray of London and Mary Lou,
Mrs. Matthew Denomme, of Zurich, 25
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Whitney
Ribey Funeral Home, Seaford'. until Friday,
June 22 when Mass of the Christian Burial
was held at St. James Roman Catholic
Church. Interment St. Columban Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike McQuaid, Francis
McQuaid, Gary Murray, Paul Murray, Pat
Denomme and Gordon Denomme.
