Trustee Bell said he tends to agree with Mr. Filshie's statement, but added it's also an inexpensive answer. The expensive answer, as outlined in the executive committee report would' be to hire more guidance counsellors. A 1980 Guidance Program Council report recommended to the board a ratio of one couflsellor for every 350 . students. "However, at that time the Board could not see its way clear to do so, and approved a ratio of 475 students per counsellor; this is still the basis upon which staff is nllochted to the schools,'.' states the executive committee report. Barbara Herman, a trustee for 13 years, said this was one of the most difficult decisions she would have to make. She asked Mr. Collings which access would be needed. "The key thing here is contact. and the SAMPLEFEST PRIZE WINNERS school is where they make contact," said Mr. Collings. He later noted that YFC has been approved by the Ontario Commission on Mind Abuse. Stratford trustee Paul Parlee repgated concerns he had made back at then February meeting which centre on the non-sectarian basis of public schools. "My concern is that if we let Youth for Christ in, we may have applications from other groups," he said. Those trustees voting in favor of the one year trial were Rodney Bell, Peter Black, Gerry Foster, Canon Michael Griffin, David and BPrI..Richards., Those voting against were Don Crowley, Barbara Herman, Ted Loughrey, Barbara Osborne. Paul Parlee, Howard Shantz and Dctedc Ward. Listowel trustee Rev. John Anderson was absent from the meeting. —NOTICE -- Effective July 7 to Sept. 1 McLaughlin Chev-Olds and Seaforth Motors Will beclosed at 1 p.m. on Saturdays to give their employees longer week -ends for the. summer months SEIG S SHOES 2ND FLOOR WAREHOUSE FEATURES f ladies' Shoes . *THOUSANDS OF PAIRS •SURPLUS STOCKS *DISCONTINUED LINES..,SECONNDS.,.I TC.
