4,7ki club is rewarding
A keen 4-H member often goes hand in
hand with a supportive parent.
And it's that way because a parent's
interest in 4-H is catching. It motivates a 4-H
member to do well in the club.
The role of the 4-H parent can be crucial to
the success of a 4-H club. Not only does the
parent encourage the member, but the
parent provides the important link between
4-H and the community.
When their child joins 4-H, parents want
to know about the philosophy of the
program, the expectations which will be
placed on their chnd and the opportunities
provided by the 4-H program.
Parents can easily become involved in
4-H. Driving members to meetings or asking
their son or daughter about the meetings is a
start. Parents can encourage project work at
home and attend 4-H activities too. Or, by
simply asking a club leader what they can do
to help in the general running of the
program, a parent can support the 4-H club.
As a parent, being involved in your
family's 4-H work is an investment in time,
but the rewards are worth it.
