Cows were sharply higher. Pigs sold steady. There were 1118 cattle and 1003 pigs on offer. Choice Steers -82.00 to 86.00 with sales to 92.00. Good Steers -79.00 to 82.00. And it's that way because a parent's interest in 4-H is catching. It motivates a 4-H member to do well in the club. The role of the 4-H parent can be crucial to the success of a 4-H club. Not only does the parent encourage the member, but the parent provides the important link between 4-H and the community. When their child joins 4-H, parents want to know about the philosophy of the program, the expectations which will be placed on their chnd and the opportunities provided by the 4-H program. Parents can easily become involved in 4-H. Driving members to meetings or asking their son or daughter about the meetings is a start. Parents can encourage project work at home and attend 4-H activities too. Or, by simply asking a club leader what they can do to help in the general running of the program, a parent can support the 4-H club. As a parent, being involved in your family's 4-H work is an investment in time, but the rewards are worth it. Topnotch Feeds 40th anniversary is coming up A lot of Seaforth residents were wonder- ing what was going on at Topnotch Feeds on May 7 when passers-by saw a group of people gathered on Main Street in front of the Head Office. The Company's annual meeting was held on that day with the executives of Jas. Richardson & Sons, Ltd., Winnipeg, owners of Topnotch. A group photograph of the Topnotch "team" was taken in preparation for the company's 40th anniversary in 1985. The directors of Topnotch joined the employees to pose for photographer Frank Phillips.
