B RUSSELS
THE FARM SHOW will be performed at the
Brussels Stockyard as part of the Brussels,
Morris and Grey Ontario bicentennial
celebrations. Carol Oriold, director, and her
cast of 12 actors have spent many hours
practicing their lines for the play, a comedy
that offers non-stop laughs. The Farm Show
has been performed in Brussels previously,
but instead of six actors, now features 12
actore. Most of the' actors are from the
community. The show will play June 25, 28,
27 and July 1. Organizers are hoping for a
full house for each performance. (Wassink

Despite the rainy weather on Monday,
May 28, approximately 45 people enjoyed a
variety of desserts at the Brussels Women's
Institute's final dessert euchre for the
seasoti. President, Peggy Cudmore wel-
comed the guests and following the lunch,
euchre was played. There were enough for
nine tables to play cards.
The winners were high lady, Bernice
MacFarlane; high man, John Simpson; low
lady, Dorothy Townsend, Seaforth; low man,
Leona McDonald (playing as a man); most
lone hands, Dick Stephenson.
Birthday nearest to date, Jeanne Ireland
and Elmer Townsend, Seaforth; lucky table
No. 5, Adah Smith, Brenda Perrie, Edith
Pipe and Wilfred Strickler; four lucky tally
scores were also chosen and they were 40
points; Wilma Hemingway; 52 points Marg
Sweeny; 47 points, Adah Smith and 38
points, Marguerite Sanderson.
On June 13 at 8 p.m. the Women's
Institute meeting will be held in the library.
The guest speaker is Muriel Huth, dairy
princess for Huron County. Miss Huth will
have a demonstration, Everyone is welcome,
CALLANDER NURSING HOME
On May 17, Alf and Ethel Sutton, Mae
Goddan, Cameron Somers and Cecil Bate-
man of Ethel entertained with piano, violin
and singing.
Debbie Trollope, volunteers and residents
planted flowers and vegetables in boxes to
be transplanted later in the garden.
There was no one celebrating a birthday in
May do residents had a Mother's Day party
put on by the Anglican Church ladies.
PEOPLE WE KNOW
Meadowbrook Yorkshires go travelling
again. Bill and Marie Turnbull exported pigs
to Japan last week.
Visiting last weekend at the home of Bill
and Marie Turnbull were Mr. and Mrs,
Gordon Kealing pf Owen Sound, Mr, and
Mrs. Archie Hoven of Petrolia and Mr. and
Mrs. Allan Wilds of Point Clark,
Ada Partridge of Dresden spent last week
with her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Moses. She is spending this week
with her mother Ada Brittain.
Marie McTaggart and Dave and Dorothy
Miller of RR5, Stratford were on a 10 day
holiday., While away, they visited with
Simone and Bob George at Cocagne, New
Brunswick, and with Helen and Joe De
Young at Askon, Nova Scotia.
Jack and Luella Mitchell spent last
weekend in Welland and attended a concert
put on by the Robert Wood Singers, a 70
voice choir.
On Fri. -May 18, Clem and Edna McLellan
and Dianne Mole of Dungannon attended
the graduation exercises for the Wingham
and District Nursing Assistance Program,
where their daughter Peggy was one of the
graduates. On May 19, they attended the
wedding of Ian Mayberry and Nancy Pratt in
Trinity United Church, Listowel, and the
reception at the Canadian Legion Home. Mr.
Mayberry is the son of Jack and Anne
ayMberrycLeilaof nRR4s. Listowel and are cousins of
the M
On Wed, May 30, Melville Presbyterian
Church held their annual Maytime Supper.'
It was a very successful event.
Brian Armstrong, son of Jim and Leona
Armstrong graduated from the Aviation
Technician (aircraft maintenance) program
at Canadore College, North Bay. Jim, Leona
and Leanne Armstrong and Mrs. Harvey
Johnston attended the graduation. Brian is
presently employed at the Stratford Airport.
On Saturday, June 2 Clem and Edna
,McLellan, Alvin and Pam, Carl and Debbie,
Max McLellan and Barb Lang, Kitchener,
and David McLellan andDianne Mole,
Dungannon attended the reception for Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Harrison of Newbury,
honouring them on their recent marriage at
the Palmerston Curling Club, Paul is a
nephew of Clem and Edna.

Belgrave United Church Women held
their World Outreach meeting in the church
school room May 31. A good number
listened to the experiences of Mrs. James
Hunter, Mrs. John McIntosh and Mrs,
Richard Moore of their recent trip to Haiti.
Their slides and souvenirs were very
informative as to the way of life there. Mrs.
McIntosh expressed thanks for the donations
for articles they took to the Grace Children's
Hospital and the Haiti Baptist Mission.

took part in the question period. They have
assisted in Haiti on several occasions.
The worship service was conducted by
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler. Mrs, Laura John-
ston, Mrs. Jack Taylor, Mrs. Jack Higgins
and Mrs. Olive Bolt. Mrs. George Johnston
presided at the piano. The theme was
"God's Luggage Shop".
Mrs. Wheeler read a poem, Mrs. Bolt
read scripture. Announcements included
Camp Experience, June 14 at Camp Bimini,
Auburn UCW Ceramic Tea, June. 16, 2-5
p.m.
The next meeting will be Church in
Society, Sept. 2'' at 8:15 p.m.
EUCHRE WINNERS
Nine tables were in play at the weekly
euchre held in the WI Hall May 30.
Winners were high lady, Mary Chamney:
novelty lady, Mrs. George Drehmann; low
lady. Olive Bolt. high man, Leslie Short:
novelty man, Garner Nicholson: low man,
William Goss,.
Potluck supper will be held June 6 starting
at 6:30 followed by euchre. Everyone is
welcome
ARMSTRONG REUNION
The Armstrong family held a reunion at
the Women's Institute Hall on June 3.
Fifty seven family members signed the
guest book. Mrs. Ellen Armstrong of

evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Johnston.
A surprise shower was held June 2 at the
home of Trudy Taylor to honor bride-to-be
Alison Roberts, Seventeen friends greeted
the guest of honour and her mother Mrs,
John Roberts.
Mr. and Mrs, Emerson Mitchell of Walton
visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Johnston.
Mr, and Mrs. Harold Cantelon of Tweed
and Carrie McGuire of The Copeland Lodge,
Wingham called on Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse Friday afternoon. They were
dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Pletch.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Trewartha of
London spent the weekend with Mr, and
Mrs. James Leishman.
Kathy and Amanda Kennedy/of Londes-
boro and Tracy and Trina Leishman of
Belgrave sent Monday with .their grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Leishman.
A large crowd, enjoyed the cold n)eat
smorgasbord supper at the Belgrave WI Hall
on June 2 sponsored by Calvin -Brick United
Church.
COMMUNITY SHOWER
On June 2 friends and neighbors joined to
honor Alison Clarie Roberts, daughter of
Rev. and Mrs. John Roberts, at a community
shower in the Women's Institute Hall In
Belgrave.
The evening opened with a mock -wedding
skit presented by • • United Churl young
people. A hum, poem highi.ghting
various anecdote, Uison's ,'fe, written
and recited by Ruth Gordon, the hostess for
the evening, was read.
Trudy Taylor. the maid of honor,
presented Alison with an umbrella decorated
with the bows from her gifts.
The evening concluded with a lunch
served by the ladies and a social hour during
which the guests viewed the gifts and
greeted Alison, her mother and the mother
of the groom, Mrs. Norma Miculan of
Hamilton.
