Bill Gibson nominated
for bicentennial medal
Bill Gibson, owner and operator of
William's Hairstyling, has been nominated
by Hensall council as its choice as possible
recipient of a bicentennial medal.
Local governments, community organiza-
tipns and individuals throughout Ontario
have been asked to submit' the names of
people to be considered to receive one of the
1,984 Bicentennial Medals to be awarded
and presented in a series of ceremonies
across the province this fall.
The award is based on an individual's
volunteer activities and community service.
Council took into consideration the fact
Gibson has given unstintingly of his time to
various Hensall causes through the years.
He is also well known for his generous
donations of cash and other gifts to clubs and
organizations.
Gibson is an active member of the BIA and
the Horticultural Society, holding the
voluntary position of secretary in both
organizations. At present he is very busy on
Hensall's Centennial Committee, with t e-
sponsibility for organizing a maMmoth
parade as part of the village's four-day
celebration in July.
This information will be sent to MPP
Margaret Birch, parliamentary assistant to
Premier William Davis and chairman of the
Bicentennial Awards Committee.
When informed of his • nomination, Gib -
son's first reaction was shock. "I'm sure
there are many more worthy than 1. I feel
very honored to be nominated," he said.
