St. Columban ties London

In a closely fought game Sunday June 3, St.
Columban came from a 2-0 deficit to tie the
score at 2 apiece.
In the first half London Portugese managed
to put one past Michael Segeren to take a 1-0
lead. Shortly into the second half on a direct
free kick from the 18 yard line, they widened
the gap to 2-0.
However St. Columban never gave up and
got a break with a penalty shot which Dave
Murray managed to score on. With five

In the early game Sunday, May 27 the
Queens Hotel beat, the Topnotch 8 to 4 with
Brian Cooper hitting a single followed by a
double. For the Topnotch team Jerry Feeney
hit a triple then Don Morton belted out a
three run homer.
In the late gange the Villagers defeated the
suring, Charlie Walker scored on a cross
tying the game at 2 apiece.
The starting lineup' included Michael
Segeren, Brad Hy.mers, Richard Verberne,
Brad Forbes, Dan Wesenberg, Dave Murray,
Mark Underwood, Brian Newington, Charlie
Wise, Wayne Ryan and Charlie Wacker. Subs
were Mark Cantelon, Peter Denomme and
Paul Janmaat.
The next home game is on Sunday June 17
at 2 p.m. at the Seaforth High School against
the Chatham Portugese.

Villagers, Steve Henderson hit a two run
homer while Wayne Cronin and Daye
Longstaff each had a triple for the Firemen.
On May 28 the games between the Bears
and Mainstreet and the Turf Club and
Creamery were rained out.

Seaforth hosts games
For the first time since 1980 Seaforth and
West Branch will get together for summer
games from July 13 to 15.
Participants needed include girls and boys
track and field ages 8 to 16 years, boys and
girls doubles in tennis ages 12, 13 and 14
and 15, 16 and 17, mens and ladies doubles
in tennis ages 18-30 and 31- and over, mixed
shuffleboard ages 60 and under and 60 and
over. Also needed are participants in mixed
euchre ages 60 and under and 60 and over,
boys and girls ping pong ages 10 and 11 and
12 and 13 and 14 and 15 and boys and girls
badminton ages 12, 13 and)4 and 15, 16 and
17.
Competitors in any of the above events
should come to the recreation office for a
registration form as soon as possible, says
Marty Bedard.
Volunteers are also ' needed to billet
approximately 80-100 children from West
Branch from the ages 8 to 16 years old from
the Friday night until Sunday.

Three-wheelers at Huily Gully
Motocross and three-wheeler riders from
across Midwestern Ontario converged on
Hully Gully for regular Saturday House
League racing on June 2.
The track was made ready for the CMA
sanctioned event the next day. and some of
the preparations for the upcoming Labatt's
Expert Motocross Nationals on June 17 were
already in place. More work going on up
untilthe Canadian National Championship
will assure even better conditions for the
next House League event scheduled for June
9.

Turf club leads league
In the early game of Wednesday, May 30
the Creamery and Topnotch ended their
game with a 6-6 tie.' A double was hit for the
Creamery by Al Nigh and for Topnotch by
Bob Watson. '
In the late game, Mainstreet downed the
Villagers 4 to 1. For Mainstreet in the third
inning Bill Roberton hit a triple. Then in the
seventh inning Steve Drager hit a triple and
advanced to home on an error. Rick Woods
helped even the score for the Villagers by
hitting a double.
The -rained out game of May 28 was played
on Friday, June 1 and resulted in a 3-3 tie
between the Seaforth Bears and Mainstreet
after nine innings. For the late game,
Queen's forfeited to the Turf Club due to a
lack of players.
