SHORT SHOTS

If you are attempting a task that Is beyond
your strength, or are faced with problems you
are unable to cope with alone, do not be too
proud to accept help or support and comfort
from others in time of trouble or sorrow.
The bicentennial will not go by unmarked
in Brussels. Plans are well underway and
committees are busy arranging for the July
1st weekend festivities. The kick-off for the
celebrations has already taken place. A dance
was held last Saturday evening and was
attended by a large crowd with representa-
tives from Brussels, Morris and Grey
Councils in attendance. With Ruth Sauve and
Max Watts, chosen at the dance, as King and
Queen, to reign over the festivities. things
are sure to be kept humming. Residents of
Brussels and surrounding areas can look
forward to numerous events of interest to
entertain them.
The New York islanders, with their 4-1 win
over the Canadiens on Saturday will have the
opportunity to be five time winners of the
Stanley Cup. The Montreal team deserve
credit for their all-out efforts, to the very end
of the series in spite of the desperate
frustration they must of felt. The consistent
dose checking and strong defense of the
Islanders, along with the perfrormance of
goalie Billy Smith and his infamous whacking
stick were just too much for the Canadiens, It
remains to be seen if the Edmonton Oilers can
overcome the skilful tactics of the Islanders
and bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada.
A lady, asking in a fashionable dress
shoppe when she could picked up the new
gown she had ordered. was furious when told
it would not be read) or another two weeks.
