Dairymen advised to fill
milk quota 100 per cent
Total milk mai'ketings were 2.9 per cent
higher in March, 1984 than in March 1983,
marking the fourth consecutive month of
increases. Month -over -month increases were
0.1, 1.4 and 3.7 per cent for Dec., Jan., and
Feb. respectively.
These relative increases were not unex-
pected since production fell sharply during
the latter part of the 1982/83 dairy year in
response to quota reductions. The current
estimate for provincial utilization of MSQ for
the dairy year is 104 per cent, based on the
following factors: actual marketinp from
August, 1983 to March 1984; forecasting total
milk supplies for the remainder of the dairy
year to be up 2.9 per cent, assuming fluid
sales for the current dairy year to be 1.5 per
cent higher than last year, and; assuming 100
per cent utilization of cream 9uota.
The projected provincial utilization of MSQ
is down slightly from last month (104.5), due
mainly to a lower month -over -month increase
in March (2.9 per cent) compared to February
(3.7 per cent). The ,projected year-end
provincial MSQ utilization will vary in the
coming months, depending on what steps
producers take to bring production in line
with quota holdings.
The quota systemUsZtigkt and the
over -quota levy refund situation remains
unchanged. Producers are strongly advised
to bring production in line with their 1983/84
quota holdings and should aim to fill 100 per
cent of their quota.
FLI W MILK MARKET
On a sales day adjusted basis, fluid milk
sales decreased by 0.7 per cent in March
compared to March 1983, This follows
increases of 1.5 per cent in February, 4 per
cent in January and a decrease of 0.2 per cent
in December, compared to the same months a
year ago.

Hydro policy
Ontario Hydro has implemented changes
to its policy on compensation paid for
easements for wood pole power lines.
A number of items in the policy/have been
updated to reflect changes in land values
and to improve compensation for inconven-
iences caused, These items include: a new
median land value for farm properties used
to calculate easement payments (increased
from $2471 to $3200 per hectare); a general
increase in pole payments from $75 to $90.
The policy is designed to ensure that
everyone directly affected by wood pole lines
is dealt with openly and equitably. It takes
into account land values, crop losses and any
possible inconveniences resulting from the
structures.
The low -voltage lines affected by the
policy change are, in most cases, carried on
now in effect
FOR
SALE
single or twin wooden poles in areas directly
served by Ontario Hydro.
Easement rights are acquired for wood
pole lines on residential, commercial,
industrial and cottage properties, as well as
farm land. An easement allows Ontario
Hydro limited rights on land use. It may
build and operate a power line, enter the
property from time to time to inspect, repair,
replace, maintain or remove the line, and to
do essential tree -cutting or trimming.
Although not permitted to erect buildings on
the easement area, owners retain ordinary
nse of the land along with the r+ist of their
land rights.
Changes become effective Apr. 2 and will
be reviewed on a regular basis.
