Linda Roberts is attending Leadership
Camp in Huntsville this week.
The Hensall Quilting Bees attended the
4-1-1 Achievement Night in Exeter Tuesday.
Pam Gackstetter, Kelly Gackstetter, Kathy
Jacobs, Pat Masse and Christina Huston
completed the quilting program Hensall
U.C.W. sponsored. The group leaders were
Marg Cole, Dorothy Brintnell and Janeth
Sangster. The girls presented the leaders
with a plant in appreciation.
HORTICULTURAL GROUP MEET
President Cathy Mann presided for the
meeting of Hensall District Horticultural at
Hensall United Church on Monday evening
and welcomed everyone including the many
guests from Seaforth and the president of
the Goderich Club. Cathy opened the
program with a poem.
The Explorers are selling pansies -- the
Centennial flower; also, the members will
receive pansies at the home of Marg Cole on
Friday afternoon.
It was announced a white pine, a
bicentennial tree will be planted at the
Northcrest home. Brenda Russell asked for
flowers, and wicker pieces to decorate a float
for the Centennial arade. Volunteers will be
needed to.help with the town flower beds.
Guest speaker, Jean McKee was intro-
duced by Eileen Rannie and she gave an
interesting and humorous talk on geran-
iums.

Velma Robinson drew tickets on door
prizes, which were won by Gladys Doig,
Mrs. Klaver, Helen Tinny, Jack Smith and
Mrs. Kipfer. The next meeting will be Sept.
10 at Hensall Public School. An auction of
plants was directed by Rev. McDonald.
UNIT 3 MEETS
The May meeting of Unit Three was held
in the church parlors on Tuesday with
Dorothy Parker presiding.
Beatruce Munn conducted the worship
and a letter was read from Pete and Susan
Frayne from overseas telling about Johan
and Ralph Hills in Zambia by Helen Roberts.
Marg Cole gave a report of the barbecue
and Mary Kinsmen a report on the bake sale
for the Centennial float.
Loretta Riley reported on packing a
clothing bale and Vera Ross played several
piano instrumentals on the piano.
The Explorers have completed their sale
of boxes of pansies and report over 900
boxes sold and delivered. The pansy is the
centennial flower for Hensall.

AMBER LODGE PLANS -
DESSERT EUCHRE
Noble Grand Marg Upshall presided for
the May meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge
on Wednesday evening assisted by Vice
Grand Eunice Alkenhead.
A birthday card and .money gift was
received from Pride of Huron Lodge. A card
and money gift was sent to Goderich Lodge
who are celebrating their 75th anniversary.
Final plans were made for the dessert euchre
to be held May 9 at 1 p.m.
The South Huron Youth for Christ held
their May rally May 5 in the Brucefleld
School with around 175 in attendance. This
was the last indoor rally until October.
Director Bob Heywood opened with a
lively sing -song with Sharon Parker at the
piano. The Zurich team scored the most
points on the final quiz on Titus 3 with
Bayfield second and Goderich third.
The Zurich team has scored the most
points for the season in all the rallies and will
have the trophy presented to them at the
chicken barbecue on June 16.
Speaker, Ace Clarke of Hamilton was one
of the leaders of a motorcycle gang. He told
about the lives of members of motorcycle
gangs and how his conversion to Christ took
place about 11 years ago.
The annual chicken barbecue will be on
June 16 at Ken Gascho's Park west of
Zurich.
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted worship
in Carmel Presbyterian Church Sunday at
10:15 a.m. Joan Keys presided at the organ.
The P.C.W. ladies are invited to Kippen
U.C.W; on Wednesday, May 9 at 8 p.m.
Agnes Hislop will be the guest speaker
next Sunday May 13 when she will tell of her
work in India. After serving the Church in
India for 32 years she is doing deputation,
work prior to her retirement.
Choir practice is Thursday, May 10" at 8
p.m.
A large number frons s area attended
the 120 voice choir musical event by the
Ontario Christian Music Assembly at the
Exeter United Church on Saturday evening.
On Monday afternoon ladies from Carmel
Presbyterian Church were at Queensway to
play bingo with' the residents.
On Tuesday afternoon hymn singing was
held.
Wednesday morning residents who wish-
ed to be creative through crafts got together
and in the afternoon several tables of
crokinole were set up.
Everyone's skill in keeping a balloon in
the air was tested on Thursday morning as
residents got involved in the game. In the
afternoon a movie "Color Living" was
viewed by the residents. Also that afternoon
a trip over to the library was made to
exchange books that were due.
Ross Thompson was the high bowler this
past week with a score of 123. Murray Howe
also did well with a score of 103.
On Sunday afternoon the residents took
the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful
weather by getting outside for walks.
'Birthday greetings are extended to Lucille
Jeffrey and Lloyd McDougall who both
celebrated birthdays this past week.
Mrs. Ross Corbett who recently under-
went surgery in Victoria Hospital, London
returned to her home this week.
Illiam Donald Stebbins, Donald William
areing and Pamela Marie Mallette were
confirmed Sunday morning at the United
Church.
Elders assisting with the service were
Donald Stebbins, Mervin Fields and Shelley
Parsons.
Sharon Wurm, Clerk of Session assisted
the minister with the service.

The Kippen East Women's Institute
executive met at the home of theresident
Grace Drummond in Exeter on May 1.
Plans were made for the coming year
about studies, donations to other organiza-
tions, the SOth anniversary party of
K.E.W.I. to be held on Dec. 5, and
commit -tee leaders submitted their meetings
for the program for the coming year,
1984-85.
K.E.W.I. will meet in Kippen United
Church on May 16 at 8:30 p.m. Roll call to be
answered is "My resolution for saving
energy around the home."

The sympathy of the community is
extended to Beth and Jim Cooper on the
death of Jim's tnother Lorraine Cooper, and
also to Joan,and Art McCallum on the death
of Joan's mother Pearl Koehler.
Mrs. Grant Love of Caro, Michigan was
here attending the funeral of Lorraine
Cooper.
Approximately 70 membersof McGregor
and MacGregor families from Peterborough,
Mississauga, Toronto, London, Goderich,
Londesboro, Brucefield and Kippen attend-
ed a gathering of Clan Gregor held at the
Bavarian Tavern, London on Sunday, Apr.
29.
It was decided to hold a Clan Gregor
potluck picnic in Clan Gregor Park, Bayfield
on Sunday, June 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. Any and
all. members of McGregor families are
cordially invited to attend.
KIPPEN UNITED CHURCH NEWS
Pastor Don Moffat presided in the pulpit
on Sunday, May 6 with Frances Kinsman
accompanying the singing of hymns at the
organ.
