The May meeting of the W.M.S. of
Cromarty Presbyterian Church was held at
the home of Edna Stoneman on Thursday
afternoon.
President Dorothy Miller read a poem and
six members answered the roll call by
suggesting some of the problems of the
people of Central Africa.
Betty Dow, in charge of the devotional,
God's geography, read from the Psalms,
Lillian Douglas read the minutes of the
April meeting. Lila McKai gave the
treasurer's report, followed by the topic
advising clean your mind out for spring.
The study book, led by Agnes Lamond,
dealt with the customs and life style of the
people of Central Africa and some of their
unusual proverbs.
Dorothy`' Miller gave highlights of the
Synodical at Wingham. Several invitations
from various church organizations in the area
indicate that May and June will be especially
busy months in the church.
A Bible quiz was conducted by Betty Dow.
On May 9, Miss Arlene Randall of Nigeria
will be the. guest speaker at the Spring
Conference of Stratford -Huron Presbyterial
to be held in Seaforth Presbyterian Church at
8 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a
dessert and coffee social to begin at 7:15.

A canvass in aid of the multiple sclerosis
society will be held 'on Saturday in the
village.
Huron County Board of Education has agreed to appointing a
committee to study the Issue of French Immersion. Each high
school area will have ono parent representative on this
committee. Parents who aro Interested in serving In this capacity
aro asked to Indicate their Interest by writing to the director of
education no later than May 25, 1984. Said letter should contain
name, address, telephone number, high school area in which they

Obituaries
PROVEST
Joseph Provest, 89' a resident of Seaforth
Manor Nursing Home, died Saturday, May 5
at Seaforth Community Hospital.
Friends were received at the Whitney-
"Ribey Funeral Home until Tuesday May 8
when mass of the Christian Burial was held
at St. James Roman Catholic Church,
Seaforth with Father Caruana officiating.
Interment St. James Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lou Coyne, Joe Ryan,
Jim Kelly and John Shea.
GARY RINTOUL
Gary Wayne Rintoul of RR2, Lucknow,
died at the Wingham and District Hospital on
Thursday, Apr. 19. He was 40.
A son of Gordon Rintoul and the former
Doreen PUrdon of RR3, Wingham, he is
survived by his wife, the former Barbara
Corey; two sons, Kevin and Corey both at
home; one sister Gayle, Mrs. Brad Speiran of
R. 3, Brussels; and two brothels, Leroy of
RR2, Lucknow and Brian off RR3, Wingham.
He is also survived by his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Purdon of Luck -
now; four nieces, and was a son-in-law of Joe
and Marie Corey of Clinton.
Funeral service was held at the Currie -
Walker Funeral Home, Wingham on Satur-
day, Apr. 21. Rev. Paul Mills officiated.
Interment Wingham Cemetery,
SHOLDICE
Merriam McNaughton Sholdice, 83, of
Brussels, died Sunday May 6 at her residence
on Walnut St.
The former Merriam McNaughton Lowe is
40.

infancy and one brother, Milton Lowe,
Funeral services were held Tuesday May 8,
at the Brussels Chapel, the M.L. Watts
Funeral Homes, Brussels. Interment Brus-
sels Cemetery.
COOPER
Lorraine Mabel Cooper (Little); 55, of
Clinton and formerly of R.R.3, Kippen, died
Thursday May 3 at Clinton Public Hospital.
Surviving are one son, Jim Cooper, of
R.R.3, Kippen, one sister, Laura Kestle, of
Clinton, her mother, Mabel Parker, of Orillia
and one brother, Herb Little, of Stratford,
five nieces and five nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Charlie
Little in 1973.
Funeral services were held at the Hopper -
Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter on Saturday
May 5 with Rev. James Bechtel officiating.
Interment Exeter Cemetery.
KOEHLER
Pearl Catherine (Willert) Koehler, 68, of
Hensall, died Thursday May 3 at Victoria
Hospital, London.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Bruce Koehler in 1958.
Surviving are three sons, Glenn, of R.R.2,
Hensall, Donald, of Lucan and Keith, of
Apsley, Ontario, three daughters, Joan, Mrs.
Arthur McCallum, of Kippen, Dianne, Mrs.
Raye Armstrong, of Goderich, and Lynda,
Mrs. Denton Gaiser, of Regina, Saskatche-
wan, one brother, Harold Willert, of R.R.2,
Hensall, ;one sister, Beatrice, Mrs. Ross
Richardson, of Exeter, 15 grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hensall
Chapel of Michael P. O'Connor Funeral
Home, Hensall and funeral services were
(Feld Sunday May 6 at St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich with Pastor Cheryl Ashick-
Englert officiating. Interment St. Peter's
Lutheran Church Cemetery, Zurich.
HOFFMAN
Margaret Jean Hoffman, 20, of Dutton,
died Saturday May 5 in Mosa Township.
Surviving are her parents, Merrill and
Janice (McKenzie) Hoffman, one brother,
Dwight, at home, grandparents, Art and Lou
Hoffman, of Dutton and Frank and Betty
Hulley, of Seaforth, aunts and uncles, Larry
and Sharon Mote, of Dorchester, Tom
McKenzie, of Calgary, Derk and Janet
Sloetjes, Nancy and Doug Hoffman, both of
Dutton, Bob and Bonnie Stannard, of
Wallacetown.
She was predeceased by grandparents
Loretta Hoffman and George McKenzie.
Funeral services were held at the Arn-Beill
Funeral Home, Dutton on Tuesday May 8.
Interment Fairview Cemetery.
