What a captivating need underscores the ninety goods years of our Staffa's Ruby Reed! She's a fixture -still a picture -of Hibbert's healthy clime; and reflects so well the passage of each day's persistent time. She was born in sawmlll residence with respected Sadler name; to parents -Robert and Rebecca -April 25th she came; Moved in two years to present home, up rugged winding slope; Well fulfilled in her ambitions for a life of love and hope. No.'ideveloped learning, granted diploma for grade eight; Standinggoodenough, when quarantined, to. pass through Entrance Gate. Turned to music, and soon mastered talent on the ivoried keys of both organ and piano, without privilege of degrees. For many years she played the hymns for Sunday School and Church; Most of that time•-free_gratis--to help each singer search for • Gospel of Salvation, and farmer's stewardship; enhanced the spiritual recipe of piligrim's spiritual trip. For eight years, she and brother John ran the Sadler store, selling and delivering right to each custo- mer's door; experienced gypsy travellers, came to know the country lore: RUBY 'REED of Staffa celebrated her 90th birthday recently. (Hundertmark photo) rG DUBLIN AND AREA Ruby on her 90Th began fantastic memory bank from which, still, details pour. At thirty years she met and wed her Oscar, surnamed Reed; as agent for Great West Life, they met each other's need for companionship, supportive role, travell- ing they went -- Jasper, Quebec, Texas were convention weekends spent. Her prime of life, though ltusy with routine of every day, found Institute, U.C.W., Eastern Star rich fare along the way. tp blance out meals, fancy work, quilting and the sewing, plays, readings, driving car were events that kept her going. Her hey -day was the buggy, cutter, drawn by frisky horse, cleaning coal -oil lamps for lighting store, all in the matter of course! There followed caring, saddened days when Oscar's health gave way, and death to him and parents brought deep sorrow to her day. She's known her share of illness, as arthritis cramps her style; Gout in trusty right hand, giving very painful trial; many days in hospital bed have tired her patience sore; though always she has found strength to return to favorite door. It's a privilege to know her, recount her faithful days; and wish for het less -pained hours, to offer heart -felt praise for her faithful life, devotion and example to us all; and once again re oice in one whose life reflects God's ca 1. Ruby's reached such score of years, as few will ever see. We celebrate here, here "ninety" --I know we all agree, her presence in our midst has enriched us every one, and wish for her remaining days, God's blessing through His Son.
