Large crowd attends benefit dance for McDonaTds

Tuesday night euchre was held in the hall
with eight tables in play. Hostesses were
Margery Humphries,, Ruth Axtmann, Annie
Reid and Margaret Craig.
Winners were high .lady, Dorothy Daer;
low, Janie McEwing; high man, Emerson
Mitchell; low, Mel Jacklin; most lone hands,
Rena Watt.
There will be another euchre at the usual
time on May 8 and a Dessert Euchre on May
22 at 7 p.m.
Viola Kirkby attended the annual Blue -
water Regional meeting of the Arthritic
Society which was held in Walkerton on
Saturday.
Others attending from this area were
Marlene Roberton, Seaforth; Wilma Hem-
ingyvay and Margaret 1'yerman, Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Volker Hertlein and Crystal
of London and his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Hertlein of Germany visited Friday
afternoon with Ruth Thamer.
A large crowd attended the benefit dance
for Don and Marilyn McDonald and family
Friday evening at the Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre. The Ian Wilbee
Orchestra supplied music for dancing and
the Harmony Kings of Seaforth and area
entertained with their splendid singing
during the lunch hour.
The McDonalds had lost their home and
contents, to fire just recently.
Viola Kirkby and Rev. and Mrs. Hazle-
wood of Brussels attended the 50th
anniversary open house Saturday evening in
Listowel for Mr. and Mrs. Orval Harrison
who are formerly of Moncrief.
Londesboro ladies collect $380 in cancer drive
Greeters at the United Church on Sunday
morning were Jim Jamieson and Nancy
Penfound. Ushers were Brenda Nesbitt,
Connie Hoggart, Larry Gross and David
Whyte.
Messengers will meet next Sunday, May
6. Remember the Ham and Turkey Supper
on May 10.

Bosman and Chris Kennedy on graduating.

Ambulance received Its charter last Thurs-
day. The charter will officially be presented
to fhe branch at a meeting In Goderich on

The community was also shocked Friday
Apr. 27 in learning of the death of Jean
(Colquhoun) Caldwell, 65, of RR1 Londes-
boro at Victoria Hospital, London. She was
predeceased by her husband Leonard on Dec
2, 1982. Sympathy to Nancy (Mrs. Joe
Marzano), Schomberg, Wendy (Mrs.
Charles Crawford), Kelowna, B.C.; Allan,
Auburn, six grandchildren, three sisters,
Audrey (Mrs. George Hepburn), Toronto;
Isabel (Mrs. Len . Theedom), Clinton;
Margaret (Mts. John Robinson), Clinton,
five brothers, Don, St. Thomas; Murray,
Owen Sound; Tom, Clinton; Ross and Hugh,
London. She was predeceased by three
brothers Duncan, Laurie and Kenneth
Colquhoun.
Visitors with Orville and- Reta Kelland for
Easter were Judy and -Don Casler and
Jessica from Windsor; Shafon and Bob
Cousins and Aaron from Goderich; Linda
and Jeff Dixon, Darryl, Derek°and Scott from
Vanastra, Reta's father Arthur Heckman
from Stratford has also been .visiting for the
last three weeks.
Attending the UC Presbyterial at Wing -
ham on Monday Apr. 23 from Londesboro
were Florence Cartwright, Brenda Radford,
Helen Lee, Joan Whyte, Gail Lear, J*upne
Fothergill and Betty Hulley.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Alien returned home
on Apr. 25 from spending two and a half
weeks in Florida.'
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Newby returned
home on Apr. 28 from spending the past six
months at Fort Pierie Florida.
June Fothergill would lik to thank her
helpers Betty Moon, Nancy Allen, Karen
Johnston for their help ' collecting for
cancer drive. A\ to of $328.00 was
received.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Fothergill attended a
dinner on Sunday in Listowel on occasion of
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Marks,
59th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Allen of Mitchell
visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Allen, and attended the memorial service for
Jean Caldwell.
Emerson Hask returned to his home Apr.
15 from spending the past four months with
his daughter Marjorie and Ron MacLennan
and Steven at Mt. Hope.
Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Alien Shaddick were Mr. and Mrs. Dirk
Garlich of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff
Shaddick, Stephen and Danny, Brantford,
Miss Ruth, Shaddick, Clinton and attended
the memorial service for Jean Caldwell.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Josling of dod,ecich
visited on Sunday with Mrs. Joe Shaddick.

orange coloured building on No. 4 Highway at the northern limits of
Londosborce. It Is available for schools that would like to bring classes to sae It in
operation and get hands-on experience with the model. A 15 or 20 minute slide
presentation Illustrating erosion control and water management Is part of the
demonstration.
Tho Stewardship Centro features other means of erosion control as well,
many of which can also lesson danger of accidents on ditch -banks and farm
culverts.
Beginning early In May. Mika Scally. who has completed throe years study of
the University of Guelph, will be in charge of demonstrations to schools.
