The Walton Women's Institute held their.ro
Apr. and annual meeting Wednesday
evening in the Brussels Library. There were
19 ladies present.
Helen Craig thanked the Brussels ladies
for their hospitality. Margery Huether
played the piano for the opening ceremon-
ies.
The business was conducted by Leona
McDonald with Marjorie Humphries reading
minutes.
In the correspondence, an invitation was
accepted from Fordwich Institute to attend
their special meeting, May 16 at 8:15 at
Senior Citizen's Hall. The regular Walton
meeting being changed to May 9.
Tickets were given out to members for,
provisions to be taken for the noon luncheon
this Wednesday at the hall, everyone is
welcome.
It was voted to close off the euchres for
this season with the dessert euchre,
Tuesday, May 22. Each member is to
donate two desserts with a S2 admission.
Mary Humphries presented Kelly Lekx
with a plant as a going away gift on behalf of
the Institute. Kelly and her husband Rick
move to Gowanstown next month, .Ruth
Axtmann mentioned the garden club the
Institute will sponsor it. •
The installation of new officers for 1984-85
was conducted by Marie McTaggart as
follows: past president, Mrs. Keith Rock;
president, Mrs. Ken McDonald; first
vice-president, Mrs. Graeme Craig; second
vice president, Mrs. Lavern Godkin; secre-'
tary-treasurer, Margaret Shortreed; assist-
ant, Mrs. Nelson Reid; district director,
Mrs. Harvey Craig; alternate district
director, Mrs. Viola Kirkby; branch direct-
ors, Mrs. Nelson Marks, Miss Margaret
Shortreed, Mrs. Dave Weisbrod; public
relations officer, Mrs. Jim Axtmann;
curator, Mrs. Nelson Reid; auditors, Mrs.
Harvey Craig and Mrs. Wm. Humphries.
Cranbrook Dart Club
announces season's champs

The annual meeting of Cranbrook WI was
held Apr. 5 at the home of Mrs. Leslie
Knight.
Mrs. Jim McMahon installed the officers
for 1984-85. Pictures were taken for the
Institute page in the new Huron County
Atlas.
PEOPLE WE KNOW
Misses Christine and Bernice van Donkers-
goed and Luke . travelled to Brandon,
Manitoba where they visited with their
brother Gerald and other friends for a few
days.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Zitzslmmons, Windsor,
visited Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith and family.
Little Miss Melissa O'Rourke spent the
weekend with her great grandparents Jack
and Mrs. Conley.
Guido Lex and Guido Bickler, both
members of the County Youth Orchestra of
Birkenfeld, from Mar Oberstein, West
Germany, spent last week with Rick Knight.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Garnet Starr and daughter
Kim, of Wallaceburgvisited on Good Friday

A family celebration was held on the,
occasion of Gertrude Bolger's 80th birthday
at Huronview on Sunday Apr. 15. About 50
relatives and friends sat down for a potluck
dinner which was arranged by Marilyn
Engel, Cranbrook, ,and Eve Payne, James-
town. Gertie received friends and relatives in
the afternoon.
The Cranbrook Dart Club had a Kentucky
fried chicken dinner on Thursday Apr. 19 in
the Community Centre. Season's champs are
George Zwep, Murray Cox, Tim Prescott;
most darts, Ernie Lewington; most finishes
and most points, Jim Hart; high score 180,
,George Zwep. Trophies for the ladies; high
score, Lori Cox; most points, Lois Hart.

For the , new business for the annual
meeting Leona McDonald offered her home
for the planning meeting for the coming year
on . Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m.
Plans were made for the District Annual
Meeting to be held at Duff's United Church,
Tuesday, May 8 with registration at 9:15
a.m. Marjorie Humphries read last year's
.annual minutes followed by the financial
report. It has been decided to rewire the
hall.
Reports were given by 'the convenors of
the standing committees Viola Kirkby for
Agriculture and Canadian Industries; Marg-
ery Huether for Citizenship and World
Affairs in the absence of Berva Watson;
Education and Cultural Activities by Alberta
Hudie; Family and Consumer Affairs by
Helen Craig; Resolutions by Margaret
Craig; R.R.O. officer, Ruth Axtmann,
curator -Annie Reid.
It was decided to purchase a memorial
plaque. The executive to replace the hall
board committee was voted to make a
donation of $1S to ane Brussels Fair Board.
Another meal at noon will be served by the
institute on May 16. The curator will be
given fee of 54 to renew membership card to
the Historical Society. Annie Reid will attend
a meeting in Gorrie, Apr. 25.
SCROOL•NEWS
Parents and friends visited the Walton
Public School. on Thursday, Apr. 19 to see
arcus plays, art, stories and many interest-
ing , articles from their -r ent trip they
enjoyed at the circus in Kitchener.
DUFF'S UNITED
A large congregation of worshippers were
greeted on Easter Sunday morning by Paul
and Dianne McCallum. Organist Marion
Godkin played the Easter hymns. Ushers
were Paul McCallum, Campbell Wey and
Harold McCallum.
Special music was given by the ladies
quartet who were Helen Craig, Marie
McGavin, Doreen Hackwell and Marion
Godkin accompanied by Margery Huethe,r at
the piano.
Rev. Charles A. Swan talked to the
children on "Hope". His sermon was "The
Ressurection Means Life". Sunday May 6 is
Bible Society Day.
' EASTER VISITORS
Miss Ruth Thamer, Woodstock spent the
Easter weekend at the dome of her mother
and visited other relatives in the community.
Lester Machan and friend of Toronto
visited on the holiday weekend with his
mother Mrs. Viola Kirkby.
Mr. and Mrs. John Thamer, Tony and
Jason visited over Saturday night with
relatives in Peterborough.
Danny Achilles and Karen Atcheson of,
Stratford visited Saturday at the home of his
grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roily Achilles.
RECEIVES PIN—Mrs. Ida Evans, left, was
presented with a Life Membership certifi-
cate and pin of the Majestic Women's
Institute of Brussels. The presentation was
