Emissions lower
Emissions of sulphur dioxide and nitric
oxide frim Ontario Hydro's coal-fired .,
generating stations were lower last year than -
in 1982. The 1983 acidic emissions were
515,000 tonnes, down from the 1982 total of
531.000 tonnes. The reduction in emissions
occurred --despite a record use of coal last
year --because the sulphur level of the
coal burned was lower.
Ontario Hydro remains committed to
reducing its acid gas emissions to 300,000
tonnes by 1990.
