The competition which is administered by the University of Waterloo's faculty of mathematics had a record-breaking 44,454 students competing. School teams from Winnipeg, Montreal and Toronto were declared champions. Mr. Park has BY JANE ROWCLIFFE Mr. Park and class had six visitors last week including Mark Cruikshank, from Toronto and hit wife, Kris and his six month old son Angus. Mark is a kindergarten teacher as well as a good story teller. Ile was in Seaforth observing our school. Mark visited with the kindergarten and grade one classrooms. He sang songs and told stories. Seaforth District High School will hold additional PD days on Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1. The remaining Huron secondary schools will hold additional PD days on Feb. 8 and June 21. Elementary and secondary professional development days for 1984-85 were approved by the Huron County Board of Education at Its Apr. 2 meeting The approval of the professional develop- ment days came as part of the approval for the 1984-85 school year calendar. The regular school holidays include Christ- mas holidays - with the last day of school being Dec. 21 and students returning Jan. 7, and the mid -winter break runs from the March 8 to March 18. The elementary and schools for the trainable mentally retarded will have PD days on Sept. 24, Oct. 26, Nov. 28, Feb: 22, May 3, June 10 and June 26 to 28. The secondary school professional devel- opment days will be on Oct. 26, May 3 and In the Zone 76 Fermat Contest, Seaforth piked 19th with a , score of 202.25. The highest score was Listowel with 321.00. eaforth placed 14th in their zone in the Pascal Contest; The school's score was 246,50. The Hanover high school won the contest with a score of 356.75. Brad Beuttenmiller, a grade nine student ai''$DHS made the,zone 78 honor roll with a score of 90.25. The highest mark was by a Stratford student who scored i30.00. six, visitors From London came two women. They came to observe language activities. They did plays with the grade ones. The children said it was lots of fun. Their last visitor was Susan Hundertmark. She was there to do an interview for the newspaper on how they felt about the five year old boy that was killed near•Stratford. She talked to them about the rules they should follow if a stranger started talking to them. She asked them what they would do if they were approached by a stranger. Both washrooms have been painted and some of the classrooms have too, Also both our pianos were fixed up and varnished again. TRW TO BLYTH On Monday Mar. 26 the gr'ad'e seven and eight classes went to the Blyth Theatre. There they were shown around the whole theatre and also went to the places where the furniture was stored and the place where all the props, costumes and other things were held. They all had a really nice day.
