Manor residents go shopping
The euchre club and volunteers met at
Seaforth - Health Care Facility on Friday
afternoon. Five tables were in play. Prizes
donated by Mary McIver went to ladies high,
Gladys Ruston; men's high, Alfie Sykes;
Ione hands, Penny Caza; consolation, Harold
Walsh and Maxine Elliott.
Mary Nolan assisted with the lunch. The
next euchre will be Friday, Apr. 27 at 2 p.m.-

with a good number of residents in

COOMBS, Rick and Lynne Coombs are

April 14, 1984, Trevor Christopher, 8 lbs. 3

Caravan Clothes visited the Nursing home
on Thursday and all ladies enjoyed a day of
shopping. This mobile clothing unit provides
wheelchair and handicapped residents with
the opportunity to choose clothing right in
the home.

Sid Pearson was visited by his daughter
Beverly Pearson of Stratford.
Friday afternoon residents will see a
puppet show at Seaforth Health Care Facility
sponsored by the Friendship ministers.
Residents of Kilbarchan Nursing Home have
been invited to be guests.
The. sympathy of all residents go out to
Cornelius Rumig and family on the death of
Mrs. Rumig at Waterloo.

afternoon with treats for all residents.
This Sunday will be Easter Sunday and on
Wednesday afternoon Rev. Archie Robert-
son of Bethel Bible Church will conduct
Easter communion services for residents at
Seaforth Health -Care Facility.

members meeting Sunday, Apr. 8, in' 1piey.;

chaired the meeting.
The first resolution presented w,alt pn
school bus safety, a concern of the parents of
the many young children who were preset . It;
passed unanimously. It reads; "The ONDP
renew its call to improve the safety standtlydS
for school buses and request an immediate
amendment to the Highway, Traffic 'Act ,to
make seatbelts mandatory on all seats,"
standardize bumper heights, and make a 50
km/h zone during school busing hours, /a km''
in either direction, wherever school buses
make a left hand turn onto a highway.','
Several other resolutions were brought
forward and approved. These included one
from Micheal Lohse that an ONDP govern
ment would commit Itself to a healthier rural
economy by assisting the establishment of
local food processing and related industries.
One resolution opposed the Atomic Energy
Control Board's,proposal to increase the
amount of radation exposure workers,
including women of childbearing age, are
allowed to receive
A fourth rea'olutlonresolved that an ONDP
government would encourage and assist'joint
veniutea with Canadian owned companies
and cooperatives utilizing industrial waste
heat in greenhouses and other agriculturally
related applications.
Concern over the lack of interest banks are
dowing infinancing local farms and, other
small business ventures prompted a resolu-
tion from Tony 'McQuail that an ONDP
government would expand the Province of
Ontario Savings Bunk in cooperation with the
existing Credit 'Union System to serve .the
interests and needs of their patrons and assist
in the development of the local and Ontario
' community,
The' meeting also endorsed a resolution
front' the Oxford NDP regarding abandoned
railroad right of ways. The resolution called
for the return of the railroad right of way to
adjoining landowners when there is no
proposed alternative use of interest in that
community..:
Thee', resolutions will go to the .Ontario
NDP Convention in Hamilton at the end of
June where they will be presented for
discussion, possible amendment and be
voted upon.
Huron -Bruce Riding is eligible to send five
delegates who were also elected on Sunday.
They are,Murray Wightman, Micheal Lohse,
and Paul Machan of Kincardine, and Fran
'McQuail and Tony Netball of Lucknow.

The annual meeting of the Seaforth
Women's Institute was held at the•lfome off
Mrs. Lorne Lawson. Mrs. Ross, Gordon
chaired the meeting.
An invitation was received from iurie'h
W.I. to attend their 70th anniversary June 20
at 12:30 p.m.
The District Annual is at Dashwood'May
17 at 6:30 p.m. Waterloo Conference is May
1, 2, 3 and our delegate is Mrs. Gordon
MacKenzie.
Mrs. Gordan Papple gave a report on the
District meeting at Hensall and conducted
the election of officers. They are: Past
President, Mrs. R.J. Doig; President, Mrs.
Ross Gordon; Vice -President (quarterly
