Precision Skating Champ- ionships in London an Sunday, Apr, 1. Michelle skates with the London Precision team "The Supremos" . The club has been kept busy since they performed at the Brussels Ice Carnival in Jan. They have competed in five competitions both in Canada and the United States and remain champions in both international and national competitions and winners of five gold medals. Howlett, London, who is the Western Ontario District Secretary of the Canadian Bible Society. He gave a very interesting talk on the work of the society and told of the demand for the Bible in many languages. SUMMARY DAY Quite a number from this area took part in the Summary Day for the rug braiding course held in the Brussels area on Tues. Apt. 3. • EUCHRE WINNERS The Hall Board and WI sponsored card party on Friday, Apr. 6 was well attended with 14 tables playing. RUG BRAIDING COURSE—Groups who Brussels, Morris and Grey Community crafts. Admiring a quilt made by Peg Purdon Winners were: high, Mrs. M. Cummings, took a Huron County rug braiding course this Centre last Tuesday. Besides the rugs, of Dungannon, left, are Florence Bolander of Elgin Adams; low, Dorothy Martin, Allan winter had their protects on display at the individuals also displayed some of their other Gorrie, centre and Laving Ruttan Martin, lone hands, Lois Hart, Beryl Smith (playing as a man); at table #8, Brenda Perrie, Mrs. Honeyford, Wilfred Strickler, Lloyd Smith; lucky tallies, Bill Beirnes, Adrian Verstoep. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Conley, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Strickler and Donald Clark attended They won the fifth gold medal and a trophy after placing first over 13 teams from across Canada to take the Canadian Championship again this year. Mrs. Robert Grasby read the scripture. Mrs. Harold Vincent read about The Easter Lily. Leader, Mrs. George Michie, welcomed everyone. The minutes were read by Mrs. John McIntosh and treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Albert Cook. The April birthday party will be held Apr. 12 at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Logan. Mrs. George Michie led the Study -Life with the Good People -Scripture was read to show how the Pharisees wouldn't believe Jesus and laughed when he said "You cannot love God and money." Jesus told them tax collectors and harlots would enter the Kingdom of God before they would. Mrs. Jack Taylor closed the meeting with a prayer of Confession. EUCHRE WINNERS Ten tables were in play at the weekly euchre held at the WI Hall Wednesday, Apr. 4. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse; novelty lady, Mrs. Agnes Caskanette; low lady, Mrs. Ronald Coultes; high man, Jim Leddy; novelty man, Garner Nicholson; low man, Sam Fear. There will be euchre again this week starting at 8:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. PRETTY PATCH GIRLS The meeting of the Pretty Patch Girls 4-H club of Belgrave was held Mar. 26 at the WI Hall. Mrs. Jane Van Camp taught members -how to make a quilted picture frame and a cosmetic bag. March 30 was the deadline for the books to be handed in and May 9 is the achievement night. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Cook of RR1 Belgrave and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mason of Hopeville -returned home on Sunday after a five day tOur of Brown Swiss Breeders in Indiana and Ohio. They also attended a sale on Saturday at Wapakoneta, Ohio. Prizes are given to lodge euchre winners Past Noble Grands Club of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels, held their meeting at the home of Margaret McCutcheon. President Sarah Stephenson conducted the business. Mary Lowe gave secretary and treasurer's reports. Residents of Stratford, that small, pleasant city, were horrified when a five year old boy disappeared when on his way home from school at lunch time. He was later found dead after being picked up in a car. The very thought that such things might happen here are repugnant. But, they have taken place in other small centres. There are people who have no regard for the lives, or the dignity of others, and do not hesitate to kill or violate to achieve what they want. We do not believe there are such persons among us. But how can we be sure there will never be one passing through our peaceful community and on their way commit some such crime? Spring really must be here. Birds are all a -twitter, flitting here and there anxious to be about their family business. Early spring flowers have thrust through the cold earth to reach the warming sun and their delicate petals lend a touch of bright beauty to the dreary landscape. Hardy folk have thrown off, their winter wear and brave the still chill winds in spring apparel. It was a cold bleak winter and springtime is welcomed with the hope of a long warm summer ahead.
