(Hundertmark photo) Rebekahs celebrate 35th • anniversary Correspondent BERTHA MacGREGOR 262-2025 The PCW of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, held their Easter Thankoffering on Monday evening with the President Mrs. Dorothy Taylor presiding. The theme was "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today". Jean Snell, Marg Hoggarth and Florence Hyde read the Easter scripture lessons. Jean Snell read an Easter poem. "The Day of Resurrection" was sung followed by a reading by Marg Hoggarth. Florence Hyde gave an "Easter Mes- sage," "Happy Easter Time." A candlelit ceremony was led by Dorothy Taylor with Edith B ell at the piano. Those lighting candles and reading scriptures were Dorothy Taylor, Jean Snell, Marg Hoggarth, Mattie McGregor, Ruby Bell, Cathy Bell, Winnie Skea, Florence, Bertha MacGregor. The theme of the drama was "Tint Light of the World" Reports were given by Marlene Bell, Cathy Bell, Mattie McGregor, Winnie Skea. The group is invited to Cromarty Apr. 10 at 8 p.m. and Seaforth on Apr. 18 at 8 p.m. The Synodical will be held in Wingham Apr. 25. Mrs. Duke is entertaining at Seaforth, May 9 at 8 p.m. The birthday party will be held June 11. Keep in mind the "Daffodil Tea" on April 14 at2p.m. The worship committee for the next meeting will be Ruby Bell and Jean Snell. Social c-ommittee Winnie Skea and Jean Snell. UNIT 3 HOLDS EASTER MEETING Unit Three held their Easter meeting in the Church parlor on Tuesday with the president opening the meeting with a poem. Helen Roberts was in Charge of the worship the theme being "Joy". Dorothy Parker read a poem "The Measure of Love". Dorothy Parker and Helen Roberts thanked members for cards received at the time of their bereavement. Mary Upshall read a poem "Miracle of Spring for the program. Dorothy gave the study on "The meaning of Poverty in Countries Overseas and in Jesus Day". President Dorothy Parker thanked every- one for helping at the Queensway Nursing Home during lvlarch and to those who took part in the meeting. Hostesses were Ardys Glenn and Doris Hamilton. UNIT 1 MEETS At the April 5 UCW meeting of Unit I, Audrey Joynt presided and opened the devotional reading a story from the Bible where the ladies go to the grave of Jesus. "Beneath the Cross of Jesus" was sung with Belva Fuss accompanying at the pian. Audrey read an article by Rev.. J.A. Davidson, "Saintliness is a Struggle the Force of Sin", wherein he described a Saint and a Sinner. Reta Scholl took the study reading an article "The Cross and 'Resurrec- tion of Your Heritage." She spoke of another article about a boy with cerebral palsy and his problem of rejection. Lunch was served by Gert Middleton and Dorothy Kipfer and' Stan McDonald joined the group. LODGE CELEBRATES 35TH D.D.P. Marion [lose of Seaforth made her, official visit to .Amber Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday evening and was pleasantly entertained at a banquet in Carmel Presby- terian Church. Members of all the sister lodges were also guests Noble Grand Margaret Upshall assisted by Vice Grand Eunice Aikenhead opened the meeting. Jr. P.N.G. Margaret Consitt -igtroduced D.J.-P. Marion Rose. The annual district meeting will be held at Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth Apr. 25 at 2 p.m. Each lodge is requested to present a number on the program. Treasurer Bonnie Upshall reported the financial statement. Goderich Lodge is celebrating their 75th anniversary May 12 to which an invitation was received. Amber Lodge are holding their Dessert Euchre on May 9. D.D.P. Marion Rose spoke bringing greetings for Assembly President Sadie Thomas The District Church parade will be held at Seaforth on May 6 at 11:00 a.m. She spoke of projects for the year. A bus from Seaforth will be going to the Home in Barrie In June. Several lodge members spoke, including Sister Irene Blackwell, Edith Dunlop, Elva Osbaldeston, and Molly Cox. This being ilio 35th anniversary of the Lodge, Charter members including Dorothy Parker, Evelyn McBeath, Ruby Bell, Bertha MacGregor, Beatrice Richardson, Muriel Richardson, Leona Parke and Aldeen Volland were congratulated by the Noble Grand and presented with a pink rose by the Jr. P.N. Marg Consitt. Lodge closed and cards were played. In the lower hall. Winners were: first prize, Elizabeth Riley; consolation, Barb Watts; . lone hands, Edith Bell. A draw was made on a flbral arrangement which was won by Evelyn McBeath ODDFELLOWS ENTERTAIN The Oddfetlow Lodge members entertain- ed their wives and Rebekahs on Thursday evening to a banquet in the United Church. Noble Grand Gerald Upshall presided. Rev. Stan McDonald gave the grace.
