Hensall women return from Caribbean

Mrs. Gordon Troyer is a patient in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter where she is
receiving treatment.
Bertha MacGregor, returned home after
spending the past week with her son and
daughter-in-law and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke in Oakville.
Mr. and Mrs. George Parker visited on
Sunday with Bi11 Shaddick and family in
Kitchener and were accompanied, home by
Pearl Shaddick who spent the winter months
in Florida.
The Three Links Seniors will hold their
pot -luck supper on Tuesday, Apr. 17 at 6:3.0
p.m. Note the change of date.
The Oddfellow and Rebekah Lodges held a
euchre on Thursday evening at the local hall.
Prize winners were ladies high, Gertie Moir;
consolation, Aldeen Volland; men's high,
Harold Willett; consolation, Hans Gersten-
korn; lone hands. Bev Hamilton; draw
winners, Elizabeth Riley and Harold Willert
Proceeds all go the Humanitarian Services
Committee.
Edith Bell and Pauline Bell returned on
Saturday night from a cruise on the Sun
Viking Ship. They flew from Toronto to
Miami Florida on to Ocho, Jamaica; to
Willemstead, Curacao, N.A.; Caracas, Ven-
ezuela; Bridgetown, Barbados, Fort de
France, Martinique, Philipsburg, St. Mar-
ten; San Jaun Puerto Rico: St. Thomas U.S.
V.I. After two days at sea they returned to
Miami Florida. There were 783 people on the
cruise. Seventy-three entered the contest for
the Princess of the Ship and Pauline Bell
won the trophy and was crowned Princess of
the Ship. Pauline was also the winner of
numerous other trophies. They enjoyed most
beautiful weather.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cliaffe, Mitchell
visited recently with the latter's mother Mrs.
Jack Corbett.'
QUEENSWAY NEWS
Ladies from Unit 3 of the Hensall United
Church were in on Monday to play bingo and
participate in a short sing -song.
The Tuesday Church service was conduct-
ed by Edgar Cudmore and along to assist

hlrp were' several ladies from the Zurich
Mennonite Church.
On Wednesday afternoon tables of
crokinole and checkers were set up
throughout the home.
Thursday afternoon the home was filled
with sounds of singing voices as the
residents got together to sing some old-tyme
favorites. In the evening a movie showing
terrariums and a variety of "bottle gardens'
was viewed by the residents..
Everyone seemed to have a good day at
bowling ,on Friday as the • scores were all
quite good. Neil Regan had the highest score.
160 but Lloyd McDougall and Ross Thomp-
son also did well with scores. of 114 and 116.
We also would like to welcome Elmer
Potter back after a lengthy stay in hospital.
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted worship
in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Joan Keys presided at the organ.
The ladies are holding a "Daffodil Tea and
Bake Sale' Saturday, Apr. 14 at 2 p.m.
FINAL MEETING OF 4-H

We had our last meeting on Tuesday,
Mar. 20 with our mothers at the meeting. .
The famous quilt block game was played and
quiltswere displayed.
We would like to thank ourmothers for
corning and making our meeting so
enjoyable. We would also like to thank our
leaders Marg Cole, Janeth Sangster and
Dorothly Brintnell.
Evelyn Flynn and Gerald visited recently
with the former's son-in-law and daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Bill O'Brien, Todd and Tracey
at Brigden.
The Hensall Centennial Committee held
their regular meeting Monday, Mar. 27 in
the United Church Hall.
Tickets for the various barbeques, dances
and the opening ceremonies are on sale now.
Since a limited number are available for each
event you are advised to secure your tickets
early. These tickets may be purchased at
any one of the business outlets displaying
the yellow cards.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 468
held their regular meeting Mar. 14 where it
was decided to purchase a past president's
plaque for the branch.
After correspondence was read from the
Canadian Heart Fund a donation of $50 was
passed.
Plans are being drawn up to renovate the
front of the Legion Hall; this prole, t should
be finished before the first weekend of Judy
Shuffleboard is over for another year and
congratulations go to, the first trophy
winners Mona Campbell. and Ken Clark.
Runners-up , were Donna Allan and Jerry
Willett. League high trophies went to Joyce
Willert and Al Kyle. League low were Val
Kyle and Harold Willert.
Once again"our thanks to Pete Zwaan and
Gary Lawrence for an excellent jet), but of
course we must also thank their. wives
Marlene and Bonnie. A group can still get
together or go in pairs and play shuffleboard
at any time, The next general meeting will
be held on Apr. 11 at 8:30 p.m.
The,ladies auxiliary had a good attendance
• at the March meeting. A waitress cart was
purchased for upstairs. There are many
banquets coming up in April and May.
Evelyn Traquair and Joan Beireling are in
hospital and we wish them a speedy
recovery. Mildred Chalmers is feeling better
after her stay in the hospital.
After the meeting, bingo was played,
supervised by Deb Plumb.
Next general meeting for the Auxiliary
will be on Apr. 3.
Kippen visitors
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stone from Sault Ste.
Marie were guests of Alec and Mattie
McGregor for a few days. During their stay
they visited the Tavistock cheese factory, the
woolen mills in Waterloo, Spin Right in
Listowel, and "the Yarns or Tralee near
Elmira.
Al and Margaret Hoggarth hosted a 50th
birthday party for Bob. Kinsman on Monday
Mar. 26. Those present were Bob and
Frances Kinsman, and Phyllis and'Harold ,
Parsons.

The Couples Club got off to a great start
on Thursday evening at the United Church
with an excellent attendance. The group
enjoyed progressive crokinole followed by
lunch served by the Christian Development
Committee.'
The group will be meeting on the fourth
Thursday of every month with a varied
program.
Hosting the evening were Mr. and Mrs.
Gary Kyle, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bailey, Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Elder and Mr. and Mrs.
Marvin Taylor.
A Gospel Hymn sing opened the United
Church service on Sunday morning when the
congregation joined in singing some of the
old hymns.
The ushers for the day were Lloyd
Ferguson, Harold Parsons, Eric Mansfield
and Steven Corbett.
The children's story was on looking 'at the
faults of others.
The choir sang an anthem.
A very successful bake sale was held in
the United Church on Saturday morning by
the Centennial Committee of the congrega-
tion. Along with the tremendous selection of
baking, the Explorers sold coffee and
chocolate milk along with homemade candy
to raise money for their camping experience.

their 65th anniversary on Mar. 28 with a noon
luncheon and an excellent program to follow.

Alderdice, Grace Eyre, Mary Broadfoot,
Ruby Triebner, Grace Pepper and Margaret

The sixth meeting of the Kippen 3 "Calico
Kittens" was held on Mar. 27 at the home of
Joyce Wilson at 7 p.m.
Members talked about the exhibit and
what it would be about --either Tools of the
Trade or the History of Quilting. Next
meeting we would decide as to which one we
would do for achievement night.

how to put a quilt up, by tacking it to the
frame.._

Ohio spent last week visiting with Mr. and
Mrs: Ivan Wightman.
Jean Provost, of London spent the weekend
with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John
Broadfoot.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Scott spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs: Ron Scott and Graham.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Triebner, Guelph
and daughter Mrs. Ed Moorhead. of Halifax
visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. David
Triebner.
Brucefield Sunday school pupils held a
skating party at Hensall arena on Saturday
and afterwards enjoyed refreshments it the
church.
Sunday Apr. 8 baptism and communion
services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at
Brucefleld with Rev. J. Bechtel in charge.
Mr. and Mrs. Gregor McGregor, of
Woodstock spent the weekend with his
mother Mrs. Gregor McGregor.
