The two teams met Friday night for an exhibition,game. The game was held In hopes of =raising I funds for the Centenalres. (Wassink photo) SeaforthMorns are WOAArte l 9 Seaforth Atoms won the WOAA Atom Grand Championship Tournament held in Durham this- past weekend with three straight victories over Chesley, Shallow Lake and Lucks ow. In the first game Seaforth outskated. the Chesley team and won easily by a 6.0 score, The goal scorers for Seaforth were Mark Smale, Jasen Muir, Danny McNaughton, Jason McNichpl, Ted Sills and Kevin McLiwain. The second game of the tournament proved, to be a much closer contest with Seaforth winning 3-2 over Shallow Lake. Brent van den Akker scored two goals for Seaforth, and Steve Papple got the third goal: Assists went to Jeff Weber, Jaseit Muir and Doug Carhpbell. In the championship game, Seaforth won chap •ons 4-0 over Luckito y. Jason McNichol scored two goals in the final ggoate,, both assisted by the goaltender Jei'f Weber. The ether goal soote?t were Ted Sills assisted by Brent van dean Akker and Brent van den Akker with assists going to Danny •McNaughton and Kevin Cardno. Congratulations on a great season boys. Mille) Novice .are WOAA champs : y The Seaforth Novices advanced to W.O.A.A. finals by 'defeating Clinton Mar. 12 2.0 rounding off a four game total point series. Scorers for Seaforth were Mike Watt and Scott Jervis with one apiece. Seaforth's next challenge for the W.O.A.A. Championship was Mitchell whom they defeated again in a cliff hanger series by 6 points to 4 in a total of 5 games. Game one in Mitchell Mar. 18 went to Seaforth 1-0 with Mike Devereaux scoring the lone goal. Mitchell travelled to Seaforth Mar. 20 and defeated Seaforth 4-2 in overtime. Scorers for Seaforth were Mike Watt with two goals and Derek Gridzak with an assist. The next game Mar: 24 in Mitchell saw Seaforth winning by a 3-2 score. Scorers for Seaforth were Mike Watt with two goals and Joe Murray with the winner in the third period. Mar. 27 in Seaforth saw the teams play to a 3-3 deadlock in overtime. • Scoring for Seaforth was Mike Watt with three goals and assists going to Pat Maloney and Scott Jervis. The final game was played Mar. 29 in Mitchell with the game ending in a 4-4 tie in overtime but the tie was all Seaforth needed to get the sixth point. Scoring for Seaforth were Scott Jervis with two goals and Mike Wart with two goals and two assists. On Mar. 25, Seaforth travelled to Listowel to a tournament and came home with the A Championship trophy. To obtain the trophy Seaforth defeated Grand Valley 6-0 with John Moylan getting the shutout. • Scoringfor6eaforth were Mike Devereaux one goal and one assi§t, Joe Murray one goal assisted by Thomas Wheatley, Mike Watt three goals and Scott Jervis one goal. In the next game Seaforth defeated Brussels 1-0 with John Moylan getting his second shutout of the day. Seaforth's Ione goal. went to Mike Watt. PERCH FRFILLETS The ,Championship game saw Seaforth defeat Milverton 7-1. Scoring for Seaforth were Joe Murray and Mike Watt each getting a hatscoringk and Mike Moylan rounded off the trick On Mar. 31 Seaforth rounded off -the . season playing in the W.O.A.A. Grand Championship tournament coming out win- ners 'again by defeating Brussels and Listow 1. The first ,game Seaforth took on Brussels and defeated them in a squeaker 1-0 in two sudden death -overtime periods with Mike Watt netting the lone goal and John Moylan with another shutout. In the championship game Seaforth defeated Listowel 2-1. Scoring for Seaforth were Mike Watt one goal and the winner going to Scott Jervis at the 7:23 mark of the ithird period. In summary, this has been a great season for Seaforth Novice and the following statistics will bare this out. Games played 38, Won 27 Lost, 6 Tied 5. Goals scored 163 with an average of 4.2 per game. Goals against 50 with an average of 1.3 per game. Seaforth's goaltenders John Moylan and Steven Hicknel recorded 16 shutouts over the season. The above records show how hard and diligently these young hockey players worked during the season and they all deserve credit for an outstanding year. The players are as follows: 1. John Moylan, 2.
