Parents for Positive Beg4nings et;aited
in early 1983 as theat res t of somelocal
women's interest in. Winging chiidbirth;
trends; and dissaticfuctiott ,with their,own
childbirth experiences..
Huron. County doctors were surveyed by
the Huron County Whiten Today group on
their general obstetrical routines. As a
result, Parents for -Positive Beginnings was
asked to provide suggestions for improve-
ments to these routines, and to submit them,
to local hospitals. ,
The immediate goals of the committee are
to provide an increased awareness of current
birthing trends; the alternatives available to
parents today; and to act as a resource and
support group for concerned parents.
The group stresses that it does not
advocate any particular method of birthing,
although at times it may present controver-

existing obstetrical care system,; The film
introduces a couple, wh through ;personal
research, find an alternative within the
hospital setting.
Interwoven with their search and actual

advice of the medical professions. •
