County doctors were surveyed by the Huron County Whiten Today group on their general obstetrical routines. As a result, Parents for -Positive Beginnings was asked to provide suggestions for improve- ments to these routines, and to submit them, to local hospitals. , The immediate goals of the committee are to provide an increased awareness of current birthing trends; the alternatives available to parents today; and to act as a resource and support group for concerned parents. The group stresses that it does not advocate any particular method of birthing, although at times it may present controver- _I Sees; Mal material in relation -to current birthing practices. ,.,The group's first presentation :to,, the public will be a film, "An ,Unremlarlrable Birth," which begins by outlining the existing obstetrical care system,; The film introduces a couple, wh through ;personal research, find an alternative within the hospital setting. Interwoven with their search and actual , experience are the comments, opinions and advice of the medical professions. • " The film emphasizes the parent ' respon- sibility in becoming aware cons in, Choosing the childbirth experience h they desire, and to become knowledgea e about the whole experience. The film presentation is open to the public, and a discussion will be invited afterwards. It will be shown Apr. 11 at the Wesley -Willis United Church in Clinton.
