Co►nrllunity • Newspapers Competition
PCNA), as.Cbatnpiuh Correspondent.
Theaward;for the.1,983 OGN"competition
was announced' at the Ontario community
newspapers convention in Toronto on Mar.
Mrs. Cronin was ,nominated"lasf Decem.
berby the Huron Expositor in the Champion
Correspondent gateggory, In a 'supporting
letter, Expositor editor Ron Wassink said
Cronin first became involved as a corres-
pondent when she was asked by the
newspaper to report the Dublin news.
Being a correspondent isn't easy and Mrs.
•Croninls the first to admit it. The mother of
six children ranging in'age from' ppre-schdol
to secondary school, she ;also babysits two
children. Besides looking after her children,
she .often attends and reports` meetings in,
her column. 9
She spends many hoursthering and
verifying news. Mrs. 'Cronin says she'repoitks
the news for her community and "for the
love of doing it".
Mrs. Cronin is one of the best Weekly
newspaper correspondents in Ontario be-
cause she, writes what the people, of her
community and the Expositor expect of her.
But she also writes much more. She often
writes a mini -column, relating to the readers
on a personal basis on such subjects as the
first day of school, leaves turning color, or
anything she finds of interest to her readers.
