,fohn W. Modeland of Seaforth, died in St.
Petersburg, Florida on Thursday, Feb. 16.
He. was 85. . ,
He was predeceased by his Wife, Sarah
Helen. Sillery in 1974.
He was born in Tuckersmith on the pioneer
farm of his parents, thelate Richard Harmon
Modeland and Susan McConnell" Modeland.
He was predeceased by his wife Sarah Sillery
Modeland ib 1974 and .'his, sister 011a Rae
Henderson of Toronto in 1977, , "
He was an active member of the Britannia
MasoniclLodge #170 receiving his 60 year
jewel in 1978. He was*also a member of the
Bluewatcr Shrine, the' Seaforth .Lions Club
and served on the boardof the Seaforth
Community Hospital.
He is .survived by his niece Irene
Henderson; nephew Ross Hettgerwn, wife
Batty; great nephews, Ross, Gary, arry and
Glen all of Toronto, and a nephew George
Kruse and his wife Jean of Egmondvillc.
A Masonic memorial service was held
Mondday, evening, Feb. 20 and a Lions Club
memoriej,service was held Tuesday evening.

Mary B. Layton, a former Tuckersmith
Township and Bayfield resident. died at the
Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday.
Feb. 1S. She was 90.
Predeceased by her husband Walter
Layton. she is survived by one daughter,
Verna, Mrs. Gordon Hildebrand of Seaforth;
three sons. Edward of Clinton; Glen, of RR3,
Clinton and Keith bf RItS, Clinton.
Also surviving are two brothers, Bert
Walters of Tuckersmlth Township; Edward
Walters, White Fox, Saskatchewan; one
sister Sadie. Mrs. Jack Horton -of Dodds
Land, Saskatchewan; eight grandchildren
and nine great grandchildren.

from the Beattie Funeral Home, Clinton on•
Saturday, Feb. 18. Rev. Paul Murray,
officiated. Interment Baird's Cemetery. •

Hilda 'Henrietta Beer, the former Hilda
Blogg, of Hensel!, died at St. Joseph's
Hospital, London on Friday, Feb. 17, She
was 81., •
Predeceased' by her husband, Frederick
Charies.Beer.in.1973, she is survived by one
son, George- of ; lensall and one' daughter

Also surviving are eight grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Beer Was predeceased by one son
Capt. John Robert Beer (R.A.F.) in 1975 and
one daughter Joan in 1932.

Barkwell. of Cambridge.
Predeceased by her husband, Martin; one
daughter Muriel, Mrs. Wilfred Shortreed
and one sister Jeannette, Mrs. Major
Youngblut.

Funeral Home, Atwood, on Wednesday,
Feb. 1S. Rev. Stanley McDonald officiated.
