The first 1984 Meeidiig of the Seaferth
junior Farmers was held It the Seaforth and
District Comnunity Centres on Jan. 10 at,
7:30.

Sol spoke. to the group about various fund
raising activities. .
• The minutes of thelast meeting were read
by secretary, touise Ryan and Kevin Mint
gave the treasurer's report.
• TheHuconrpasitorwill beadding alist of
Seafortb hinter. Farmer activities to the
'Comintinity Calendar A square dancing
team, broomball tournaments, dances, more ..
community involvement and some special
events are being planned far this year.
The chairperson and co -chairperson of
each committee were introduced at this
meeting. They are: dance: Mary Lynn Glew
and, Jim McNichol, fair committee: Doug ••
Stewart and Ingrid Claus,community better-
ment end fundraising: Nancy, Schade and
Glen' Rose; special events: Kevin Dutot and
Trish Rimmer, sports: tviinter-Vicky Morrison. .
and Diane Shapton; summer sports: Joanne
Van Vliet, membership: Debbie Henderson
and Diane -Oldfield, agriculture contact
person: Terry Smith and scrap book commit-
tee: Joanne Carter, Melissa Segeren, Julie
McBeth, and Lisa Hoornaert.
FIRST TIME curlers participated in a fun
day of curling during the Winter Carnival on
Saturday. Scott Hoegy, was a first time
curler, and he was pretty good. The
highlight of the carnival is an Atom hockey
tournament which concludes this weekend„

4-H quilting is 1
In 1984 we proudly celebrate Ontariq's
Bicentennial by focusing on Quilting = , a
henat� from our early beginnings in
CaQuilting has a long history as a traditional
craft. Today it is considered a fabric art form,
used for clothing, window coverings, wall
hangings, household accessories and, of
course, bed quilts. _
Beginners wailear*somel asietecLniques
string quilting. applique- and. Ow
quilting stitch itself. They will complete nine
small quilted article.
Members with a little experience in
quilting or sewing will have a'chance to use
their creatine talents by choosing a more
challenging design for their quilted project.
