4-H clubs unite in '84
"Together Today for a Terrific Tomor-
row" is the 1984 theme of the Optario 4-H
program which recognizes the merging of
the agriculture and homemaking divisions of
4-H.
Club leaders from both sectors were on
hand at the annual Huron County 4-11 Club
Leaders' Association meeting held ' in
Holmes-011ie Jail. 18 to learn how the merger
"affects 4-H in Huron.
Huron's representative on the Ontario 4-11
leaders' committee, Bob Hearn of Exeter,
said one of the main organizational- changes
will be the formation of club leaders' groups.
As Huron already has such a group for its
4-H agricultural dubs, the change will mean
homemaking club leaders wit now be
included in this association. The changes are
to be phased -in.
At the meeting, thtagrlculture club
leaders elected their executive as usual.
while the homemaking club leaders elected a
director from each of their achievement
areas to sit on the club leaders' executive,
Les Falconer of RRS Clinton was named
president of the Huron 4-H Club Leaders'
Association. He takes over from Brian
Oldfield of RR4, Seaforth.
First vice-president is Terry Smith of RR1,
Walton. while Diane Oldfield of RR4.
Seaforth was elected vice-president.
Maurice Hallahan of RRI. Belgrave was
named as the association's secretary -trea-
surer for the 32nd consecutive year.
The homemaking club leaders named as
directors are Brenda Love of Crediton,
Bonnie Johnston of Gorrie, Carol Bone-
schansker of Ethel, Eileen Tgwnsend of
Brucefield, Bev Van Mnhuys of Clinton and
Joanne Sproul of Brookside. The Exeter
achievement area has yet to appoint a
director.
Other citanges4o be phased -in are the age
}ice&.of, 041-. -members a9 i b NvarioAus-,
awares.
Currently homemaking areinbeA can be
be the ages of 12 and 26, • while
a culture members must be between 12 an
and 19 years of age.
