In 1981, the board approved a new
physical education program for kindergarten
to Grade 3 and curretitly this program is
being field tested in Grades 4 to 6.
Three teachers were on hand to explain
the advantages of an improved physical
education program to the board. They were
Andy Anderson of North Easthope Public
School, and Gladys Rock and Roy Benerman,
both of Upper Thames Elementary School.
Mr. Anderson said physical education is
for everybody because it provides physical,
intellectual and social growth.
The task of the advisory committee is to
pinpoint the present physical education
program's strengths and weaknesses. Fol-
lowing this, the committee will prepare a
physical education program for the county
schools.
The committee will also take a survey of
existing physical education facilities in Perth
Cotinty schools and an assessment of these
facilities will be included in the committee's

stafftraining. All costs of any recommended
changes will be addressed in the report.
