At their December meeting, Brussels what the Royal offers," said Cal Krauter,
council decided to see what the Royal Bank reeve_
could offer if village accounts were moved to
the bank- The village presently deals with
the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
In a letter to council, the Bank of Commerce
asked council to consider two options for the
upcoming year. "The bank has been good to
us," said clerk Bill King. "We've received
eight per cent interest on all accounts."
"I think we should see Jerry Dillow,(Rooal
Bank), to see what he can do for us," said
councillor Hank Ten Pas.
Having returned from a recent clerk -tress:
urers seminar, "they told us to give our
accounts to whoever gave the best offer."
said Ruth Suave. "One town saved $8,000 in
one year by changing banks."
"We should consider checking with the
Royal. It's the same thing when you shop for
a new car. You go for the best deal," said
Mr. Ten Pas.

Members are paying school tax on their
private tax bill and now. we're' paying
double," said Mr_' Brewer. Of the, total,
$1,077 of the tax bill is county and village
taxes. The balance is education tax.
"We're running pretty well in the red and
any way we can get help we have, to get it,"
said Mr. McNeil. "Otherwise, the village is
going to have another building on th it

When the legion building was completed,
it was exempted from paying village taxes
for 10 years. They started paying municipal
taxes in 1975.
"I suggest all Legions get together to
appeal , to the provincial government con-
cerning education tax," said clerk Bill King.
"We can only control the village mill rate.

It was a happy and busy Christmas season
for my family, in Winnipeg. Daughter-in-law
had a- short tumble downstairs, just prior to
the closing of school that left her ith a very
sore left arm. She refused to let it hinder her
and carried on with her arm in a sling for
several days. Unable,to *dandle Christmas

Louise, being a member of a sorority that

She stood on her feet from 9:00a -m. until 3:30

Christmas was a relaxing day with all the

Christmas dinner.
For everyone may there be a wealth of
